Thirsk 3.45

A tricky start to the Sunday Series from Thirsk and those with form don’t set much of a standard so it might be worth chancing newcomer SHINING PEARL for Karl Burke. She is bred to be useful being a half-sister to Mystic Pearl and if she is forward enough she should give a good account.

The market should prove informative so keep an eye on it nearer post time to get a better outlook. Of those that have had a run Beronia was only beaten 3 lengths on debut and was well backed on that occasion so should improve and run well here.

Thirsk 3.45

Shining Pearl 11/2 each way

Main danger Beronia

Salisbury 4.00

Another race where quite a few of these are making their debuts but I’m going to side with one that has had a run now in the shape of NEW CHARTER for Richard Hannon. She has actually had a couple of starts but that run at Epsom was too bad to be true. She got caught behind and on the rail but even so didn’t see it out with much conviction. Hopefully he has her back right now as her debut run had a lot of promise and if bouncing back she is hard to get away from.

Of the debutants An Outlaw’s Grace is well related being a half-brother to Hightown Heights and also Thanks Monica. He has a nice mix of speed and stamina in his pedigree so could easily be the danger.

Salisbury 4.00

New Charter 6/5

Main danger An Outlaw’s Grace

Thirsk 4.15

Great chance for PABORUS to complete the hat-trick here. He was impressive at Redcar last month and then followed up with plenty to spare at Carlisle last time. He goes handicapping now but has a progressive profile and everything suggests an opening mark of 90 should be within reach. There is plenty of pace on so I hope he just tucks in off the speed before being produced inside the final furlong.

Burdett won well at York last month and is unexposed so with more to come looks the one to give him most to think about. Diligent Resdev is 2 from 3 and also looks on an upward curve so should get competitive as well.

Thirsk 4.15

Paborus 4/1 VALUE TIP

Main danger Burdett

Salisbury 4.30

No surprise to see Frankel filly EJAABIYAH a warm order for this. She looked an exciting prospect winning by 6 lengths on debut last year and then bumped into a smart looking filly in Diamond Rain on reappearance in a hot race at Newbury last month. She will be spot on now and obviously can improve again so should justify cramped odds here.

Fight For You was down the field on debut at Windsor but she should do better for the experience and it would be no shock to see her improve enough to chase the hot favourite home. Matwana can do better as well but might need more time and experience to come good.

Salisbury 4.30

Ejaabiyah 1/2

Main danger Fight For You but keep an eye on Matwana for the future

Thirsk 4.45

Mezzo Soprano is unbeaten and she will likely prove popular here but MERESIDE DIVA looks a good bit of value. This filly by Ivawood left her reappearance run behind to win at Haydock beating a solid yardstick and then she backed that up with an excellent second at York last month. She is only 1lb higher and could still do better so I’m expecting a big run.

Obviously Mezzo Soprano is greatly respected and does look the danger but Catherine Chroi is thriving right now having won her last 4 and 5 of her last 6 so don’t rule her out completely either. Zapphire didn’t shape badly last time either.

Thirsk 4.45

Mereside Diva 7/2

Main danger Mezzo Soprano

Salisbury 5.00

I thought CHIPS AND RICE deserved to be favourite for this so the fact she is around 5/1 at the time of writing looks good value. She was a shade disappointing on reappearance but the fact she went off 7/1 tells you they thought she needed it. She improved as expected when well backed at Lingfield and was only beaten a couple of lengths into second. She is off the same mark and looks sure to give her running again.

Expert Witness is the one they’re backing but she has finished runner-up the last 3 times now and that is a bit concerning. Croeso Cymraeg isn’t getting any younger but he is 2lb below his last winning mark and does like this track.

Salisbury 5.00

Chips And Rice 5/1 each way

Main danger Croeso Cymraeg

Thirsk 5.15

There has been a lot of money for TOO BOSSY FOR US and this Golden Horn colt could be quite a nice prospect. He took another step forward to open his account at Ascot last month running on strongly to beat what looked a good field. He has more to come stretching out to a mile and a half and may well prove up to defying a 6lb rise.

Fox Legacy finished runner-up at Leicester last month and if improving now handicapping and up in trip again could emerge as the danger. Align The Stars didn’t look the most straightforward at Hamilton but also has a squeak.

Thirsk 5.15

Too Bossy For Us 4/1

Main danger Fox Legacy

Salisbury 5.30

The hat-trick looks to be on the cards for the progressive TARITINO here. He made all the running to win at Bath last time and despite being 8lb higher here looks to have found another good opening and can take advantage of what is clearly still a good mark. I thought he’d be odds-on so 11/8 looks more than fair and as you can see below I have included him in a few bets.

Fiddlers Green saw his winning run end at Leicester but was backed to get back on track at Goodwood last time only to look a little one paced. He still has claims though and does still look the most likely danger in this field as it lacks strength in depth.

Salisbury 5.30

Taritino 11/8

Main danger Fiddlers Green

Thirsk 5.45

This is probably one of the most open races of the day so I’ve taken a chance on TATTERSTALL at a double-figure price. This 4yo proved better than ever winning readily by a couple of lengths at Catterick last time and even up 7lb might still be able to follow up. He is still lightly raced so could definitely be capable off this mark as long as he handles the quick turnaround.

Jer Batt ran well when fourth at Doncaster and with that under his belt is expected to get competitive. American Affair won on return at Musselburgh and then wasn’t disgraced in second at Hamilton so must also enter calculations.

Thirsk 5.45

Tatterstall 11/1 each way LONGSHOT

Main danger Jer Batt and also look out for American Affair who is clearly in good form

Thirsk 6.15

Another fiercely competitive handicap but the way LETSBEFRANK won at Hamilton was impressive and given that was just his second start in handicap company he might be able to defy a 6lb rise in the weights. He is by Frankel so clearly has potential for better. Amie Waugh was seen to good effect last time and claims her 5lb again too.

Dark Moon Rising was back with a bang beating Fairbanks at Hamilton and if on a going day again could threaten. He has lacked consistency in the past however. Rathgar is another one in form and should also get involved.

Thirsk 6.15

Letsbefrank 6/1 each way

Main danger Dark Moon Rising but if he blows out then Rathgar

Thirsk 6.45

It won’t be easy winning this off top-weight but WILLOLARUPI has been in good form and was only beaten a length and a quarter when third at Catterick last month. He likely has more to come yet and should run well so at 10/1 I thought was worth backing in the lucky last. The stable form is a little concerning but other than that he has plenty going for him.

Quite a few dangers mind probably headed by Cuban Storm who came good at Redcar last month and a 4lb rise should be manageable given he is unexposed. Alfa Moonstone also has solid form in the book and should be able to get competitive as well.

Thirsk 6.45

Willolarupi 10/1 each way

Main danger Cuban Storm and also Alfa Moonstone should hit the frame
