Goodwood 1.50
Hopefully we can get our week off to a flyer with ENFJAAR for Roger Varian. This son of Lope De Vega is on a real roll having won his last two and despite another 6lb rise he looks a good bet to complete the hat-trick. He has come into his own over this trip and remains thoroughly unexposed so there is plenty to like again.
The danger could turn out to be Bystander who was back to winning ways at Newcastle last month. He is also 6lb higher here and while he does need to prove himself as good on turf he is still lightly raced so there should be further improvement to come.
Goodwood 2.25
I can see Godolphin getting off the mark for the week here with the Charlie Appleby-trained AOMORI CITY. This colt by Oasis Dream impressed making a winning start at Nottingham and then didn’t do much wrong pitched into Group company behind Whistlejacket at Newmarket last time. The step up to 7f should see him progress again and he could be quite a nice horse.
The Parthenon landed the odds at Gowran last month but hasn’t exactly pulled down any trees and is perhaps favourite because he is trained by Aidan O’Brien. There is value in trying to get him beat here. Cool Hoof Luke is my idea of the danger as he ran well in the Coventry and will also be suited by the step up in trip.
Goodwood 3.00
With Noble Dynasty and Kinross coming in for support I’m confident ENGLISH OAK is the value to take this. This colt is improving all the time and he impressed bounding clear to win at Haydock and then followed up in good style at Royal Ascot last month. He steps into Group company now but is a horse on an upward curve and I’m keen to keep him on side.
Kinross has obviously won this 2 of the last 3 years so has to be feared but he isn’t getting any younger now and might be vulnerable to younger legs. Noble Dynasty is on a roll and might be a greater threat to the selection.
Goodwood 3.35
The high-class KYPRIOS won this back in 2022 and he has looked right back to his best this season winning all 3 starts. He beat Trawlerman a length in the Ascot Gold Cup at Royal Ascot last month and only needs to confirm that form to come out on top again and regain his crown. I don’t think he loves the track as when he won this he only prevailed by a neck from Stradivarius but on all known form he is hard to get away from and I do think he’ll go away from them in the closing stages.
Sweet William has ground to make up with the selection but did impress at Sandown on penultimate start and if being delivered late might be the one to get closest to him. Gregory was a horse I liked but he ran an absolute stinker last time and is impossible to back after that.
Goodwood 4.10
With 3 wins from his last 5 starts FAIR WIND is flying and given Albasheer franked that Ascot form a further 4lb rise might be manageable. He has won over C&D 3 starts back too so is proven at the track so there is lots to like. He possesses a decent turn of foot and if this pans out favourably again I do think he is the most likely winner.
Jm Jungle is a very useful sprinter and he was only beaten 2 lengths in Ireland last month so if building on that will be the danger. Lord Riddiford absolutely loves it here and despite being in his advancing years is another one to note.
Goodwood 4.45
I was impressed with that debut run at Newbury from JOUNCY and he improved to go down just a head at Kempton last month looking a bit unlucky. The time of that race was good and with improvement to come he could be a good bet to get off the mark now. He is strengthening up all the time and with a lot of pace on I expect him to do better getting a lead. Oisin Murphy is in the saddle again and there is lots to like.
Carrados ran a nice race to finish third on debut and then improved to chase home Principality over C&D last month. He has more to come and could be the danger. I Maximus was well backed on debut and showed ability in third so is another one to note.
Goodwood 5.20
This is wide open and easily the toughest race on the card. I’ve decided to chance MOONSPIRIT at a double-figure price for George Boughey. This Kingman filly has taken her form up a few notches getting back to winning ways at Beverley and then following up easily at Hamilton last time. She is 5lb higher again but she has a good attitude and with William Buick booked she could run better than her odds are suggesting.
Frankel filly Strutting went down just half a length to Soprano in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and despite a 6lb rise looks a danger to all in here. Circe impressed winning at Newbury and despite a 4lb rise is another one in with a squeak.
Goodwood 5.55
The way MISS BODACIOUS won at Newmarket on reappearance last month was impressive and despite fluffing her lines last time dropping back down to 6f could easily see her bounce back in style. I think she is a very smart sprinter and with further improvement to come and this track likely to suit I think she’ll go close under Clifford Lee.
Dance And Romance has won 2 of her 3 starts and showed a good attitude to win at Nottingham last time. She has more to come and looks the danger. Katey Kontent is fast and is another one likely to get competitive.

I know a lot of you love placing a Lucky 15 so this is what I’d recommend from my selections at Glorious Goodwood today. Pays 550/1!
