Goodwood 1.50
This looks a really trappy opener and it is hard to be massively confident on any of the 5 runners as they all have a chance. I think I am of the agreement that AL AASY was just delivered too late behind Phantom Flight at Newbury last month and he might be able to reverse that form here.
Phantom Flight is open to improvement back up to a mile and a half and does still look the danger. Aimeric was denied just a neck at Newmarket last time and is another one in with a shout in this.
Newmarket 2.05
Clive Cox has had a good year with his handicap debutants and MAGIC MILD catches the eye here. This Havana Grey filly impressed winning over C&D last month and that form has already been boosted with the third Dream Voyage and fifth Miss Fascinator both winning since. She goes handicapping now off a mark of 86 and may well have been let in lightly.
Miss Fascinator improved to win at Ascot and like the selection she should have more to come now handicapping so is the danger. Griselda is obviously flying but she’ll need to handle yet another quick turnaround which is a bit concerning.
Goodwood 2.25
They had a couple of options for ALIGN THE STARS off the back of that Haydock win but have decided to come here. He impressed opening his account at Thirsk and then improved again for the step up to this trip to follow up last month. I was impressed with that win and despite a 7lb rise is a horse I want to keep firmly on side over staying trips. While that race hasn’t produced any winners yet a few have come out and run well so the form does have substance too.
In terms of a danger Fairbanks was back on the up winning at Newmarket last month having been well backed. He is 6lb higher but also looks to be going the right way over this trip and should emerge as the biggest threat. True Legend is also respected but becoming expensive to follow.
Newmarket 2.40
With 9 horses heading to post this race has a nice each way appeal to it and AMBIENTE AMIGO could go close for James Owen. This daughter of Postponed was back to form finishing third on her first attempt over a mile and a half last month and if building on that could be a big player with SDS in the saddle again. She needs to settle better but if she does I think she’ll be a danger to all.
Place Of Safety was off the mark at Kempton last month and is unexposed so looks the danger. Lmay knocked on the door at Royal Ascot when last seen and is another one to note.
Goodwood 3.00
Hopefully CAIUS CHORISTER can run a big race here! She was too free up in trip in the Ascot Gold Cup behind Kyprios last time. These are obviously much calmer waters and back down to 1m6f I expect her to run a big race here. The race has cut up a bit so the lack of runners is slightly concerning as she needs to settle but I do think she is the class act in the field.
In terms of a danger Grateful has gone under the radar a bit for Aidan O’Brien. This filly has won 2 from 3 this season and could have a lot more to come so at around 8/1 she has been a bit overlooked. Free Wind is plenty talented and is another one I expect to be involved.
Goodwood 3.35
I love the Stewards’ Cup probably because I’ve had a good record in it down the years. I’ve decided to back two against the field now with my main play PUROSANGUE for Andrew Balding. This 3yo was down the field behind Asfoora at Royal Ascot but that was a tough ask and he was right back to his best going down less than a length at Sandown behind Makarova. The step back up to 6f looks ideal and I have no doubt he is well handicapped. If getting the gaps he should go close.
The other one I like is DARK TROOPER who made a winning return in France and then finished a cracking second in the Wokingham beaten just half a length by Unequal Love. He is versatile regarding the ground having won on soft in France and then handled fast ground at Ascot and has a lot going for him too. Tons of dangers likely headed by Billyjoh and Lethal Levi. Also look out for Albasheer as while he is tricky he can run big.

Goodwood 4.10
That was an impressive C&D win from MISSION TO MOON on reappearance back in May and he has run well in defeat twice since. He was closing at the line when runner-up on Oaks Day at Epsom and then likely improved in defeat to finish fourth behind Mickley in the Britannia at Royal Ascot when last seen. Back at this venue with further improvement to come I think he can get back to winning ways. I think this horse could win a few nice pots going forward so one to keep on side.
Arctic Thunder scored at Ascot on return but then was behind the selection in the Britannia. He needs to settle better but if he does he is the danger. Jehangeer was strong at the finish to win at Thirsk and now up to 7f could improve again so is also noted.
Goodwood 4.45
I did like Angelo Buonarroti for this initially but with that colt now out it does look a good opportunity for CONSOLIDATION to get off the mark. This Too Darn Hot colt knocked on the door when runner-up at Doncaster when last seen and with more to come again as he gains experience he could come out on top here.
Spell Master has a similar profile having finished second at Epsom. I do like the winner Attack so that could be form that works out and he is the main danger. Caspian King needs to leave that debut run behind but should have a bright enough future in time.
Goodwood 5.20
Another race that has cut up quite badly now and Wootton Bassett colt NATIVE WARRIOR is expected to prove hard to beat. He shaped with promise behind Notable Speech on return and improved on that to win narrowly at Nottingham. That was a very good run in defeat when third to Mickely in the Britannia last time and with more to come up slightly in trip he is the one to be on.
Rowayeh was a good fourth behind Doha at Royal Ascot but failed to back that up at Chelmsford. If bouncing back could still be the danger though. Paradias has been a bit hit and miss but if on a going day is another one who could get involved.
