Newbury 1.50
The way AL AASY burst to the front to win at Glorious Goodwood was impressive. He barely knew he had a race that day so no surprise to see him turned out quickly. He could have more to come up in trip again and it is no surprise to see him odds-on as he should prove too good for these.
Al Qareem ran a cracker at York and then inevitably struggled behind Kyprios last time. He has good form to his name and looks the biggest danger.
Things didn’t really work out for EMINENCY in a first-time visor at Windsor earlier in the week but if you forgive that lesser effort he’d have a big chance off the back of that third at Chepstow. He looks off a good mark and with SDS getting the leg up it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him go close in this.
Quite a few dangers possibly headed by First Folio who hasn’t won for a while but he ran well in the Scottish Stewards’ Cup and this is easier if anything so should go well.
Newbury 2.25
The drop back to 5f nearly saw THE BIG BOARD back to winning ways at Ascot last month. She missed just a short head and despite going back up 3lb could go close if repeating that. Oisin Murphy has been flying of late too and gets the leg up so plenty to like.
Mc Loven won at Lingfield on penultimate start and then was a good fourth at Glorious Goodwood in a race working out well so while he is quite a big price he could still emerge as the danger.
Ripon 2.45
Armed with a good draw RAY VONN could have a great chance of landing the hat-trick. This son of Galileo Gold showed a good attitude to prevail at York last month and may well be capable of defying another small rise in the weights. This is obviously fiercely competitive but he has lots going for him.
Roundhay Park won this last year off a 3lb higher mark and could be the danger. He isn’t getting any younger but shaped as though still capable last time and might surprise a few and go close.
Newbury 3.00
Night Of Thunder colt WALEEFY has won 2 of his last 3 and again he impressed getting on top at Doncaster last time. He has gone up 8lb but likely deservedly so and if improving again looks a danger to all here. He has an unexposed profile and is capable of a bigger performance.
Lethal Levi has come back to form in blinkers and made all here back in May. He has been running well all season and could easily be a big player again. Starlore is hard to put a handle on but could be another one to note if bouncing back. Streets Of Gold has top-weight but ran a cracker at Chepstow and could give the selection most to think about.
The Great St Wilfrid is always a tricky puzzle to solve and it is no different this year. KITAI just about gets my vote for Mick Appleby. She showed a good attitude to fend off Katey Kontent and win at Goodwood last month and off just a 3lb higher mark could be capable of going close in this.
Tons of dangers but Wobwobwob didn’t shape badly last time and back down to 6f could run a big race. Radio Goo Goo is tough and likeable and is another one to note.
After just a handful of starts I’m convinced the best is still to come with KIKKULI and this looks a really good opportunity. He ran a monstrous race to go down just a short head to Haatem at Royal Ascot and then I think he had excuses when only midfield in France. The tempo of that race didn’t suit and I know he is a lot better than that. Back on this more galloping track he should bounce back to form and he is a colt I want to keep on side today and going forward.
Tiber Flow impressed winning the John Of Gaunt but then failed to back it up at Glorious Goodwood. This track will suit better though and he could be the danger. English Oak is also worth a mention but he did look one paced last time.
