Newmarket 1.30
A tricky opener on ITV and I have decided to take a chance on TREASURE at a double-figure price. This filly looked promising winning on debut and while she has failed to match that since I still think she has potential. She needs to handle the prelims better and settle but is 3lb lower and with the yard firing might just surprise a few.
Karmology won at York and then finished second twice before running a bit flat at Yarmouth. If bouncing back she could easily be the one to give the selection most to think about.
I know RELIEF RALLY lacks size but she certainly doesn’t lack heart and despite not winning as a 3yo yet this looks a great opportunity. She bumped into No Half Measures at Newbury and in calmer waters is expected to get back to winning ways.
Beautiful Diamond will also find this easier and did win when last at this level so looks the danger. Of the rest Democracy Dilemma has ground to make up with the selection but shouldn’t be ignored either.
Newmarket 2.05
It was good to see BRIGHTON BOY back on track at York last month and with the promise of more to come I think he is a good bet here to make it 3 wins from his last 4 starts. He has gone up 6lb but I’m fairly confident he has a fair bit of improvement in him yet and I want to keep him on side.
Twafeeg was impressive on debut and then lost all chance in the stalls in the Albany so is the danger.
Ascot 2.25
Confidence is high for AL AASY and I can see him stamping his class on this field. He is on a hat-trick after beating Relentless Voyager at Glorious Goodwood and then Al Qareem at Newbury. If it pans out favourably he will come with that customary late turn of foot and peg them back.
Al Qareem is a very decent yardstick and might be the danger again but strictly he is held on form. Hamish is likeable and at least has his ground here.
Newmarket 2.40
The drop back down to a mile did the trick for TAMFANA at Sandown when last seen and while this is obviously tougher she likely has more to come and may well be able to follow up. Inspiral was third behind Charyn in France last time and could be the danger but she is hard to catch right and the yard remain out of form.
See The Fire impressed winning at York but she is no certainty to back that up and this is obviously a great deal tougher than that.
Ascot 3.00
Progressive colt JARRAAF looks the one to side with as he bids to complete a hat-trick. He relished this C&D to beat Fresh back in July and then followed up over the same track and trip last time hitting the line hard. That form has worked out well since and it is no surprise to see him step up into Group company now as connections likely had this as the target all along.
English Oak was back to form at Newbury and we know he likes it here so is the danger.
Redcar 3.20
The money has come for NORTHERN TICKER and hopefully he can land the gamble. He was an eye-catcher on debut and then improved to win head in chest at Newcastle before beating a good horse in Airspeed at Carlisle. He would have been targeted at this and should run a big race with further improvement to come.
Billboard Star has strong form in the book and again ran well when third to Powerful Glory at Newbury so looks the danger and is understandably favourite. Uncle Don is another one with more to come.
Ascot 3.35
With 2 wins from his last 4 QIRAT is looking progressive now and the clock backed up that visual impression at Goodwood too. He is up 5lb but that form has been franked and everything is pointing towards another big effort here.
Germanic was beaten less than a length at Doncaster last month and is another one likely to improve so looks the danger. Volterra has gone up 4lb for that C&D second but is also noted.
