I’m not quite sure why so many people are opposing KYPRIOS here as he is a perfect 6-6 this season and has looked back to his very best. He has eased to 4/5 now and I think that is a great bet. I know this comes at the end of a long enough season but he was always holding Trueshan in France last time and holds main danger Trawlerman on that Gold Cup form. Ryan Moore hasn’t been hard on him and hopefully he can crown himself as a true champion.
Trawlerman beat him in this last year and does come here fresh but I feel like the fav has looked a different horse this year so while he will struggle to confirm that form he could still be the one to finish second. Al Nayyir was impressive at Newmarket but this is a big step up and he might be up against it.
The Sprint Stakes is fiercely competitive as you’d expect but I am keen on one here in the shape of UNEQUAL LOVE for William Haggas. This filly has really impressed this season and was a good winner of the Wokingham over C&D at Royal Ascot back in the summer. She ran a big race at York and again only went down a length behind stablemate Montassib in the Sprint Cup Stakes. She handles all ground and looks overpriced.
Montassib has taken his form up a notch this season and arrives on a hat-trick and with no fears over the ground looks the danger and deserved favourite. Audience catches the eye back in trip and could be another one to note if bouncing back to his best. Kinross will be looking to go out on a high but might just be vulnerable to younger legs now.
Ascot 2.35
My Notebook runs in this race. I have two daily and you can find them on Gambling.com at The Panel
Ascot 3.15
It has been a phenomenal season for CHARYN winning four times including twice at the top level. He lost nothing in defeat in France last month with the jockeys just letting the winner slip the field and in my eyes is comfortably the one to beat in this. His win over Docklands here was a smart effort and he is hard to oppose again and 7/4 seems generous enough.
Tamfana has relished dropping back down to a mile winning at Sandown and Newmarket and looks the obvious danger although this is definitely tougher again. Facteur Cheval chased home Big Rock in this last year and is another one in with a squeak.
Ascot 3.55
The softer ground definitely asks another question of ECONOMICS but he has gone from strength to strength this season and showed a really good attitude to beat Auguste Rodin in the Irish equivalent last month. I think he’ll handle it just fine and if he does I’m certain he is the one to beat. He did have quite a hard race but 5 weeks should be more than enough time to get over those excursions and he is still on the upgrade.
Calandagan went down just a length to City Of Troy at York when last seen and that was a big effort so looks the danger if running to that level again. King’s Gambit may also run better than his price suggests and 11/2 without the top pair in the betting makes quite a bit of appeal as Los Angeles looks one paced.
Ascot 3.55
Main danger Calandagan but King’s Gambit might sneak third (could back without front two)
Ascot 4.35
A wide open handicap to close and I’m giving DAYSOFOURLIVES a decent chance for Marco Botti. This son of Churchill has some eye-catching form and was back in the winners enclosure at Doncaster last month beating Liberty Lane. He ran a cracker to finish fourth over C&D in the Hunt Cup and if handling the ground could have a big say.
Holloway Boy finally got his head back in front with a smart effort at Haydock beating Prague and if everything drops right again here could go close albeit it will take a smart effort off top weight. Lattam needs to bounce back but should like the ground so is definitely another each way player.
