Sandown 1.25
This race has to revolve around SOLE SOLUTION given how well he won at the line at Hereford last time. He has learned how to jump now and with improvement to come with the ground to his liking he looks the one to beat on handicap debut.
Just Lucky Sivola has Cobden on again and showed a good attitude to win on penultimate start. If back to his best he is the danger.
Musselburgh 1.42
Siding with potential over proven form in the book here as MAITRE EN SCIENCE really impressed winning over hurdles in France when last seen. He has since joined Harry Derham and with improvement to come may well be good enough to make a winning start under Rules.
The well bred Nardaran showed promise behind Knight Templar at Kempton and if progressing again could be the one to give him most to think about.
Sandown 2.00
This looks a great chance for ETALON to get back on track. I know he has lost his way this season but he is down the weights as a result and back at this venue looks a big positive. He hacked up here off a mark of 131 this time last year and is off just 135 so I’m expecting a big run.
Martator seems too high in the weights so perhaps Gunsight Ridge could be the danger if his jumping holds up which it’ll need to here.
Musselburgh 2.17
The likeable AFADIL won this 12 months ago and is 4lb lower this time around. He was disappointing at Southwell last time but back at this venue could spring him back into life and with the yard likely to hit form now could be the time to catch him. Freddie Gingell is obviously good value for his 3lb claim too.
Florida Dreams is better than he showed at Aintree and had been running well before that so looks the biggest threat.
Sandown 2.35
Jango Baie will be popular after winning well at Cheltenham but this is definitely a different test in likely sticky ground. I wouldn’t want to take cramped odds so am sticking with HANDSTANDS for Ben Pauling. He has more experience over fences and looks firmly on the upgrade.
Kalif Du Berlais also arrives on a hat-trick and might even be a greater danger. Nicholls will hit form at some point so don’t underestimate.
Musselburgh 2.50
It was hard not to be impressed with the way MARBLE SANDS knuckled down to beat Colonel Harry at Carlisle back in November. He has been beaten twice since but the form stacks up behind Frero Banbou and then Springwell Bay last time. He is a good horse who should run a big race.
The Kalooki Kid is still unexposed and did win readily at Doncaster so looks a danger to all. Saint Segal finally won last time and is also respected.
Sandown 3.07
I was with HENRI THE SECOND over C&D last month and that form has been strongly franked since. Both the second and third have won since and the third Super Survivor looks a nice horse and a strong stayer. The selection beat them 18 lengths and this would have been targeted as well.
Idefix De Ciergues was denied the hat-trick at Cheltenham last time but ran well and could still have a say in the outcome here.
Leopardstown 3.30
This very much revolves around GALOPIN DES CHAMPS who reversed John Durkan form with Fact To File to win the Savills here impressively last month. He is obviously a dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and he has a near faultless record here too so should defend his crown.
I still rate Fact To File quite highly and I’m hopeful he can finish second before likely heading to the Ryanair next month.
Sandown 3.42
The ground will be pretty cut up by the time they run this race but that won’t bother O’CONNELL and I think he’ll take a lot of beating. He has looked better than ever recently and despite a further 9lb hike could be good enough to complete the hat-trick.
In D’or put in some flying leaps to win at Ascot and is also on a hat-trick so looks the most obvious danger to the selection.
