Punchestown 2.30
Make no mistake this is not an easy start with 16 horses heading to post. A tentative vote goes to TURNUPDEVOLUME at a nice each way price. It is a bit of a guessing game but he did impress winning a maiden at Tattersalls Farm and he will stay the trip well so should run well on debut under Rules.
Plenty of dangers obviously and Fralimonti Bilbery at the top of the betting could put up the most resistance. He has been knocking on the door recently.
Punchestown 3.05
I know he has to carry top-weight but TIMMY TUESDAY has been in terrific form so that is with good reason as he does look the best horse in the race. He won impressively at Down Royal and then went down all guns blazing beaten just a length at Aintree. He is sure to run a big race again here!
Bright Legend ran right up to form beaten narrowly into second at Haydock last month and with Cobden booked for the ride looks the danger.
Punchestown 3.40
Down the bottom of the weights I can see SERIENMOND running well here. He won with something up his sleeve 3 lengths in front at Leopardstown and then had too much to do when third behind Lord Erskine at Fairyhouse. If ridden a bit closer he should be a danger to all in this.
Iberico Lord is better than he showed behind Joyeuse at Newbury and down in the weights could bounce back with a big run. Lark In The Mornin and Ascending Lark are also feared.
Punchestown 4.15
No surprise to see KOPEK DES BORDES all the rage to remain unbeaten. He won impressively on debut in a bumper and has since gone 3-3 over hurdles running out an easy winner of the Supreme at Cheltenham last month. He sets the standard and isn’t done improving so should go in again here.
Salvator Mundi came good beating Romeo Coolio at Aintree and if he settles again he could be the danger. Irancy got into a nice rhythm last time and is also noted.
Punchestown 4.50
I’m very much keeping the faith with BALLYBURN despite that heavy Cheltenham defeat. He didn’t look himself that day and jumped poorly throughout. If he gets into a better rhythm here which I think he should then he can get back on track. He is still a horse with considerable potential so no surprise to see Townend pick him.
Impaire Et Passe was behind him at the DRF but did look good at Aintree so could be the danger. Lecky Watson is 3-3 over fences and beat him at Cheltenham but isn’t a certainty to back that up.
Punchestown 5.25
Plenty of unknowns here so hard to be confident but LEADER DES BORDES does catch the eye for Willie Mullins. The yard have won 2 of the last 5 runnings of this race and usually target a good one at it. He is certainly bred to be useful being a half-brother to Kopek Des Bordes and if fit and ready to go could make a perfect start.
Thiscouldbetheone was well held on debut at Limerick but he should leave that behind and could be a big player in this. Gordon Elliott won this last year and Santo Sospir looks the first string this time so could go close.
Punchestown 6.00
The drop back to 2 miles definitely makes this more interesting but even so it is hard to oppose FACT TO FILE who was an awesome winner at the Cheltenham Festival last month. He showed plenty of gears that day and looks a horse with the world at his feet right now.
Marine Nationale also won at Cheltenham travelling strongly and if backing that up should make a good race of it at least. I can’t see how they aren’t the 1-2 so it is probably worth having a reverse forecast for some insurance.
Punchestown 6.35
A tricky race to conclude and if you have followed for a while you’ll know we never go mad in bumpers. EAGLE OF DESTINY is by Gleneagles and shaped well beaten less than 2 lengths on debut at Thurles. If she steps forward she should have a good chance to go close.
Coutach is likely to go off favourite and he is related to some nice types. Patrick Mullins is booked for Gordon Elliott and that could be significant so I think he’ll run a big race. Bud Fox is another one who must enter calculations.

Punchestown Boosted Treble
We’ve had a treble exclusively boosted by bet365 for Day 1 of the Punchestown Festival. Usually pays around 5/1 but it is now nearly a point bigger. Pays 6/1!
