Haggas has his yard in terrific form and THE REVEREND could prove hard to beat in the York opener. He has still only had 6 career starts so could easily take another step forward as a 4yo. He lacks a run but goes well fresh and if he handles the ground he’ll go close.

Marhaba The Champ would have needed the run at Pontefract and goes well at this track so definitely looks the danger.

I can see DARING LEGEND giving weight and a beating here. He was denied a run at Newcastle and was still only beaten 4 lengths at the line. This trip is ideal and off a 1lb lower mark with Mason Paetel good value for his 7lb claim I can see him running a big race.

Berry Clever was beaten just half a length over a mile here last month so on form looks the most immediate threat.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see TWO TRIBES turn into a bit of a gamble. He was denied just a head on return at Newmarket at the start of the month and he has gone well over C&D in the past. Ryan Moore has been booked and up just 2lb he looks a danger to all in this.

Holkham Bay needs to prove himself on a rattling surface but has won over C&D in the past and ticks plenty of boxes so is the danger.

With the promise of more to come as a 4yo ELITE STATUS could be hard to beat here. He is a classy operator at his best and he has won fresh for the past two campaigns. The money is coming and it may well be gamble landed for Karl Burke.

Inisherin was poor on final outing at Haydock but has had a wind op since and if back to his best will be the danger.

A race packed full of potential and I’m looking forward to seeing SMOKEN out again for Ralph Beckett. This Too Darn Hot filly went 2-2 as a 2yo and has potential to be quite an exciting prospect this season. She holds an Oaks entry and should run a big race.

Whirl can also do better up in trip and has a run under her belt too so is definitely dangerous. Miss Tonnerre also respected.

I know Gallant will probably be popular here as he was quite eye-catching at Newmarket and that form is working out well. I can’t help but feel JOLLY ROGER is better value though. He still looked inexperienced when denied a head on return and can improve plenty on that.

Of the rest Red Sand beat the selection last time so must enter calculations. I do think he’ll struggle to confirm that so will need more.
