This is wide open but I thought SHAGRAAN shaped really well in defeat beaten just half a length at Goodwood and with that under his belt he could be a big player here. He was progressive enough last season and could have even more to come this campaign.
Jm Jungle was beaten narrowly by American Affair at Musselburgh but might reverse that here and emerge as the main danger.
Salisbury 2.25
There was plenty to like about the way MEDIA MOGUL stayed on to win at Wolverhampton and then up in trip again he followed up at Redcar. That form has already been well advertised since so with more to come he should complete the hat-trick.
Macari was a good third to Diamond Bay at Goodwood last time and could be the one to give him most to think about.
York 2.42
Horses for courses and BLUE FOR YOU certainly loves it at York! He was fourth in this last year and really caught the eye on return at Haydock hampered before running on. He can build on that and will be a danger to all in this.
Old Cock is still unexposed and if bouncing back from that poor run at Doncaster could have a say in the outcome here.
York 3.13
I thought SEE THE FIRE looked like she was going to win at Sandown before being swamped late on. That was still a good run and given this track suits her better I expect her to improve on that and get back in the winners enclosure now.
Beautiful Love shaped well in defeat behind Cinderella’s Dream at Newmarket at the start of the month and looks the biggest danger.
York 3.45
Unbeaten Sea The Stars colt THE LION IN WINTER looks worth keeping firmly on side. I know Aidan O’Brien has said he will come on somewhat for the run but his yard are going great guns and this horse could have that star quality.
Alpine Trail has been supplemented for this and is a perfect 3-3 himself so does look the most obvious threat to the favourite.
York 4.18
The progressive AESTERIUS won 4 times last season and certainly wasn’t disgraced at the Breeders’ Cup on final outing. He carries a penalty but has more to come and won first time out last year so is worth chancing.
Tropical Storm needed the run when midfield at Newmarket and should come forward and be the main threat now. Star Of Mehhmas also noted.
