I know he is burdened with top-weight but NO RETREAT could easily still be ahead of the handicapper here. This 4yo has strong form in the book and impressed winning in Dubai earlier in the year. He was denied just a neck by Silver Sword when last seen and looks primed to go close again.

Dashing Darcey has some of the best speed figures on offer in this field and goes particularly well at this track so looks the most obvious danger.

This is one of the most competitive races of the day live on ITV Racing on Saturday but I do fancy POWER FIZZ to go close. This colt by Wootton Bassett has won 3 of his last 4 now and was well backed to come out on top at Ascot. That looked a pretty good race and he should have more to come yet.

Mr Chaplin won over C&D last season and with the ground ideal and a fair opening mark he looks to be the biggest threat. Best Rate is another to note.

The money has really come for TEROOMM the last twice and he hasn’t disappointed winning readily at Bath and then following up at Thirsk last time. He has more to come now handicapping and could be quite a promising colt in the making so I’m keen to keep him on side for now.

King Casper made quite a striking performance to win on handicap debut at Newmarket last month and looks the most immediate threat.

There is rain about so I can see the ground being perfect for ALI SHUFFLE and she could remain unbeaten here. She is 3-3 to date and impressed landing a gamble at Chester last time. She had the best of the draw but even so dazzled the opposition. She has more to come and can extend the winning sequence.

Saucy Jane impressed at this track on penultimate start and didn’t run badly in defeat at York so should give the favourite something to think about.

I really wouldn’t judge RUNNING LION too harshly on that Newmarket run. I know she finished last but she was only beaten 8 lengths and clearly needed the outing. She is down in grade here so will find this much easier and I expect her to have a great chance of getting back in the winners enclosure.

Diamond Rain will appreciate this ground having struggled in soft conditions at Doncaster and with more to come looks the danger.

After seeing what Fitzella did at Haydock on Friday OLD IS GOLD has to be the play here. This colt by Mehmas ran a promising race finishing third in that race at Ascot and the form looks particularly strong. It would be disappointing if he couldn’t open his account now.

Naval Light is obviously a notably newcomer being by Havana Grey but he’d have to be pretty smart to make a winning debut here.

I know it was a bit disappointing on the day when SYMBOL OF HONOUR could only finish sixth at Newmarket but that did come behind Cosmic Year and the form is working out particularly well. He was back to his best beating Ides Of March last weekend and is very much the one to beat turned out quickly again.

Big Mojo impressed getting on top late on at Ascot last month and if improving again could be the one to give the fav something to think about.

Plenty in with a chance here but Rhapsody does look too short at the top of the betting. I prefer QUEEN OF THIEVES who is by Frankel and if bouncing back from that Chester run which is excusable should have a great chance in this. Her Yarmouth win was impressive and she retains potential.

Perfect Your Craft prevailed by a neck on debut last year and was well backed so could be open to plenty of improvement on reappearance.

A fiercely competitive renewal of the Temple Stakes and a tentative vote goes to MGHEERA for Ed Walker. This French recruit made a winning start for this yard at Longchamp at the start of the month and she could be a big player in this if building on that again.

Plenty of dangers though and Rumstar probably heads them after winning well at Newmarket. That form has been franked already too!

I thought FIELD OF GOLD was a bit unlucky in the Guineas. He just got going too late and was tapped for toe by a speedier horse. Colin Keane gets the leg up now and he should get him rolling in time to win this. There is rain about too which only enhances his claims.

Cosmic Year is unbeaten and impressed making it 3-3 at Newmarket last time. That form is already working out notably well so he looks the obvious threat.
