Newcastle 1.40
The best is yet to come from POCKLINGTON and he could come good here. He was last seen finishing 3 lengths behind Jm Jungle at York and with this step back up to 6f sure to suit if he is ready to fire fresh he will be a danger to all in this.
Aramram did it well at Newbury and then ran a big race in defeat at Royal Ascot last week. As long as this doesn’t come too soon he is the obvious danger.
York 1.55
The good looking ARCHIVIST came good at Leicester last time. He romped home by nearly 5 lengths and now handicapping there should be even more to come. The. money is down and he is fully expected to follow up against this field.
Cadarn arrives on a hat-trick and while this is definitely a fair bit tougher he could be the danger despite another 5lb rise in the weights.
Newcastle 2.10
The market leader Kind Of Blue definitely looks opposable and the market agrees 11/8 out to 5/2 now. I really like ALYANAABI here for Owen Burrows. This 4yo looked progressive beating Tiber Flow on reappearance and then he had excuses last time. First-time blinkers look a good move so plenty to like.
Ferrous has been the gamble of the race and is eyeing up a four-timer so could be the one to give him most to think about over the favourite.
York 2.25
I’m pleasantly surprised to see FORMAL at 13/2 as I thought she’d be much shorter. She impressed winning at Epsom (we was on) and the runner-up Saqqara Sands has franked the form since. This is tougher but she is on the upgrade and should run a big race again and at a nice price too.
Lake Forest wasn’t disgraced in the Queen Anne behind Docklands and is the danger if handling this quick turnaround. Paborus is also respected.
Newcastle 2.40
I have been a big fan of GODSEND for a while now and he has the potential to do even better again. He won 4 from 6 last season and then returned with an impressive win at Nottingham last month. He has size and scope and can keep getting better so looks sure to go close.
Contacto was by no means disgraced when fourth to Manxman at Goodwood. That is decent form and he can build on that and run well again.
York 3.00
I was on AZURE ANGEL at Redcar when she got beat and then backed her again when she won last time. She has been impressing and despite going up 6lb I could see her raising her game again and following up here. She obviously hits the line hard over 5f so there is lots to like.
Jm Jungle is tough and likeable and looks the danger as the betting suggests. He was also back in the winners enclosure latest and is thriving right now.
Newcastle 3.15
A typically competitive renewal of the Northumberland Plate and I’ve taken a chance on PAPPANO for Willie Mullins. He has drifted a bit this morning but I’m still confident of a big run with Jamie Spencer booked. This 4yo was pulled up in the Triumph but back on the Flat looks a big player here over this trip.
East India Dock was beaten less than 2 lengths at Royal Ascot and must enter calculations again. Tribal Star could also be bang there for the Dooley’s.
Curragh 3.30
This should be a straight shootout between the top two in the betting and KALPANA gets a confident vote. She was an eye-catcher behind Los Angeles and Anmaat on return and with that under her belt there shouldn’t be any excuses this afternoon.
Whirl is progressing nicely having gone down just a neck in The Oaks last time. She impressed bolting up at York before that and can do better again.
Newcastle 3.45
The way RARE CHANGE won at Pontefract last week was impressive and if in the same form he should have a great chance to follow up against these. He has been thoroughly progressive this season winning 3 of his last 4 and you’d be foolish to rule out another big run here.
Native Warrior was only beaten 2 lengths at Windsor last month and if building on that could easily emerge as the biggest danger to the selection.
