Newbury 1.50
I know PINHOLE didn’t beat a great deal at Ascot last time but he was impressive with how he poured it on in the closing stages and he is a colt on the improve. He has more to come as his stamina is drawn out and is one to keep on side for now at least.
Epic Poet struggled in the Hardwicke at Royal Ascot but pushed Rebel’s Romance close before that and is the biggest danger.
Newmarket 2.05
This is fiercely competitive but BINHAREER must have a decent shout. He looked to relish the drop back to 6f winning impressively at Ayr last month and despite an 8lb rise in the weights if he copes with this quicker surface he should have a good chance of following up.
Addison Grey is unexposed after just the 4 starts and went down less than a length on handicap debut so looks the main threat.
Newbury 2.25
I thought that was a massive run in defeat from RHYTHM N HOOVES denied less than a length at Ascot last month. That was a good race and if in the same form could go close under Billy Loughnane who has been impressing in recent times.
Star Chorus impressed winning at Chepstow and despite struggling at Goodwood should bounce back on this better ground.
Ripon 2.45
A field of 15 heading to post for the Silver Cup and there are very few you can rule out. NOVELLO LAD is near the top of the betting but that is with good reason. The yard won this last year and the penny has dropped for this 4yo who has won 2 of his last 3. Latest form franked too!
Fortamour isn’t getting any younger but did run well behind Mister Sox here last time so could give the selection most to think about.
Newbury 3.00
The way CLASSIC won at Sandown last month was impressive and he didn’t do a great deal wrong beaten just a neck by Two Tribes at Ascot last time. He is up another 4lb from that but goes well at this track and should have a big chance once more.
Clive Cox targets this race so Cracking Gold looks the danger. He won at Newmarket and then missed narrowly at Goodwood so thriving.
Ripon 3.20
The likeable MISTER SOX has already won 4 times this season and he showed a good attitude to get there over C&D when last seen. The runner-up Eye Of Dubai is a decent yardstick so that was a good effort. He is up another 3lb but could maintain his unbeaten record over C&D.
Rock Opera was beaten just half a length by Elmonjed at York and a similar run to that would have him bang in the mixx again.
Newbury 3.35
I know it was Soft ground but WITNESS STAND impressed winning over C&D last season and he was back to his best winning at Glorious Goodwood last month. If he is in similar form here he could be the one to serve it up to the favourite.
Obviously More Thunder has looked progressive winning 3 of his last 4 and looks the obvious danger to all here.
