York 1.50
I remember See The Fire winning this last year for Andrew Balding and they have a great chance again with the progressive GLADIUS. This colt has won 3 from 4 and impressed following up at Glorious Goodwood last time. He still has more to come and should run a very good race.
Bowmark blew out in France but still has potential and could easily bounce back and emerge as the biggest danger here.
Goodwood 2.05
I can see the top two fighting this out and preference goes to BACK TO BLACK at a slightly bigger price. This good looking grey has won 2 of his last 3 and impressed beating another nice horse in Shout at Newbury when last seen. Given plenty of time since he could easily progress again.
Mudbir arrives on a hat-trick and has won 3 of his last 4 now so looks the obvious danger but a wide draw definitely asks another question.
York 2.25
The likeable MANY MEN has already won 33 times since season and that was the best of them at Ascot last month. He stayed on strongly to win well and the form has already been franked with Fireblade winning since. If they go hard he could be the one finishing best of all again.
At a monster price CAPE BRETON looks worth a saver as I still think he could be capable of more as he impressed winning at Salisbury on penultimate start.
Goodwood 2.40
I’m expecting PRINCE OF THE SEAS to be hard to beat here for the in-form Ralph Beckett. This son of Sea The Stars blew out at Haydock but was quickly back to form when a close-up third behind Tenability at Ascot. If he builds on that again then he will be a danger to all in this.
Warda Jamila is tough and likeable and is getting backed so could be the one to ask the most questions of the selection here.
York 3.00
I really don’t see many weaknesses in ROSALLION here and he deserves to bag his first Group 1 of the season. He won three times over a trip shorter than a mile as a 2yo so doesn’t lack the pace needed over 7f. He has been a bit unlucky this season but if things drop right he should have this field covered.
Never So Brave is progressive and arrives on a hat-trick. This is tougher but he could still be the biggest danger to the favourite.
York 3.35
The Ebor is always a great betting race so it won’t surprise you that I’ve taken two against the field. My main hope is definitely ETHICAL DIAMOND for Willie Mullins. This 5yo is a strong traveller and with Buick booked he should have a massive chance off his current mark.
The other one I’m keen on at a big price is MAJESTIC WARRIOR for James Tate. He arrives on a hat-trick and was impressive at Thirsk. He is unexposed up in trip and if seeing it out strongly could surprise a few. Shadow Dance could emerge as one of the main dangers but there are plenty.
York 4.10
The way TWO TRIBES won the Stewards’ Cup at the start of the month was impressive and despite an 8lb higher mark here I can see him running another massive race. He beat Classic at Ascot before that so his form looks strong and he deserves to carry top-weight here.
Jubilee Walk was only denied a neck over C&D last month and is coming back to the boil now so looks the biggest danger to the selection in here.
