There was plenty to like about the way DAMYSUS returned to the winners enclosure in France when last seen. That form has already been franked and on just his sixth career start here he is expected to improve again and prove hard to beat.

First Conquest could be a danger on his best form but needs to improve from Haydock. Gladius is also respected.

Kingman colt DIVISION has won both starts since his debut run and was impressive again at Yarmouth last month. He has scope to keep improving for a while yet and despite stepping into Listed company now looks the one they all have to beat.

Flying Comet showed a good attitude to win at Windsor last month and wasn’t disgraced in Group company at Newbury so looks the danger.

I can see the top two in the betting fighting this out and preference is for LOOK TO THE STARS for the boys in blue. Appleby often targets this race and this 2yo arrives eyeing up a hat-trick now. He is unexposed up in trip again and is hard to get away from.

Endorsement hit the line hard to win at Tipperary when last seen and now tackling a mile and a quarter can improve and make a race of it.

There has been a big gamble on Erzindjan but I’m not so keen and as a result INSANITY seems great value at around 7/1 at the time of writing. He has been running well in defeat since winning at Ayr and was only denied a neck latest. He should be finishing strong over this trip.

Tony Montana was an excellent second at the Curragh last month and if in that sort of form again could be the biggest threat.

There is a lot of potential on show here and any of the top 3 could win. I do like AL ZANATI though as he is the choice of Buick and impressed overcoming inexperience to make a perfect start at Newmarket when last seen back in August. He has more to come and might make it 2-2.

Hankelow was only edged out late by another promising horse at Doncaster and does look the one to give the selection most to think about.

Appleby often targets this race and expensive colt DISTANT STORM couldn’t have been any more impressive over C&D last month. He has won 2 from 3 now and with more to come is expected to follow up and make his mark at the top level.

Gstaad looked a bit unlucky edged out by Zavateri in Ireland last time and might be able to reverse that form here and emerge as the danger.

I’m definitely siding with NORTHERN TICKER here. He impressed winning off 99 over C&D on penultimate start and wasn’t disgraced beaten just 3 lengths in the Ayr Gold Cup when last seen. Back at this venue he looks a major player and should go close.

Hammer The Hammer ties in closely with the selection on that Ayr Gold Cup form so looks the most obvious danger.

The Cesarewitch is always a great punting race and I can see BEYLERBEYI going well for Ian Williams. He caught the eye beaten a length at Newbury. Spencer typically gave him too much to do but he comes in here well handicapped as a result and that may have been the plan.

Bunting remains unexposed and could prove dangerous if building on that Leopardstown run stretching out in trip. Dawn Rising also feared.
