Aintree 12.55

The money is interesting for Impose Toi but he is unproven beyond 3 miles and has to carry top weight as well here. I prefer CHASING FIRE who seemed to improve again to beat The Real Whacker at Perth and could still have more to come over this trip over hurdles.

The Lord Maid was in winning form when last seen and she is another one capable at this level if bringing her best form to the table.

This is definitely one of the tougher races of the day and a tentative vote goes to BOURBALI for Joe Tizzard. I thought he shaped well in defeat when third behind Bad at Kempton and if improving from that physically could take a lot of stopping.

Tapley wasn’t disgraced when third at Plumpton last month and if stripping fitter for the run could emerge as the biggest danger here.

This C&D really suits MONTASSIB and in calmer waters his class is expected to tell. He has run well the last twice and this represents a big drop in grade back down to Listed level. He is a very talented horse when things drop right and should justify favouritism here.

Spycatcher won easily in France last month and if repeating that would be a player. Apollo One is knocking on the door and is feared too.

The best is yet to come with JUBILEE ALPHA and the fact she won 3 of her last 4 towards the end of last season tells you she is thoroughly progressive. She has to give weight away all round but is very classy and can prove up to the task under Harry Cobden.

Bethpage won readily at Stratford when last seen and is proven fresh so could give the favourite most to think about.

No surprise to see MAMBONUMBERFIVE backed into favouritism here. He looked good winning at Kempton on just second start for this yard and then was highly tried at Aintree. These are calmer waters now sent over fences and he looks a horse to keep on side for now.

Javert Allen was below par at Newbury but had looked good prior to that blip winning at Chepstow and Newbury so could threaten most.

This should be a two-horse race and BLUEKING D’OROUX holds the key. He was beaten less than a length on chase debut at Newton Abbot and given his hurdles form he can improve and open his account here. The yard are going well and he is deservedly favourite.

Cobra Queen has won her last two starts over fences and looks the danger now eyeing up a hat-trick for Henry de Bromhead.

The Grand Sefton is always a great race to watch on ITV Racing and I can see JOHNNYWHO going close. He still has lots more to come over fences and this drop back in trip could suit. He won fresh last year so the lacks of a run is a positive if anything.

Colonel Harry has been somewhat expensive to follow but he does have a race like this in him if producing his best. King Turgeon also noted.

The likeable RUBAUD is all the rage for this and deservedly so. He is on a hat-trick in the race and impressed having too much for Burdett Road at Kempton on return last month. He’ll be able to boss this small field and is easily the most likely winner.

Hamlet’s Night nearly beat Give It To Me Oj at Cheltenham last time and looks the obvious danger. The other two are up against it.

It is crazy to think DANIELE has only won once. She has some huge efforts in defeat and again hasn’t done much wrong this season without getting her head in front. She is back down to Listed company and deserves to finally get her head back in front here.

Anna Swan was beaten less than a length by Running Lion at Yarmouth and looks the danger. Perfect Your Craft could run well too.

I’m willing to put a line through that Chepstow run from ART OF DIPLOMACY as he never really travelled and he jumped poorly too. He was thriving before that and if bouncing back to his best could have a major shout in the outcome here.

Threeunderthrufive is a 10yo now but he has had a wind op since pulling up the last twice and could run well for an in-form yard.

I have liked what I’ve seen so far from HOPEWELL ROCK. He has run a handful of times winning twice and looked a bit unlucky to miss a short head at Leicester. That run at this track was promising too and with more to come over a mile and a half can run a big race here.

Castle Cove is like to go off favourite and he ran well beaten just 2 lengths at Newbury so should get involved. Stressfree is also respected.
