Cill Anna landed us a 7/2 winner for the Preview Pointer at Warwick yesterday so hopefully we can start the new year with another winner. We head to Musselburgh and the in-form ASHINGTON is taken to complete the hat-trick here for John Quinn and Brian Hughes. He won well over C&D last time so ticks both boxes in that regard and a mark of 121 looks lenient for his handicap debut. He has only had 3 starts over timber and is open to further improvement. Normal Norman won this race 12 months ago and is put forward as the main danger to the selection.

Likeable mare who got into a good rhythm before coming through strongly to win at Southwell last month, well on top at the finish; 6lb rise looks fair all things considered and foolish to rule out another big effort here.
I think it’s safe to say November was a good month for trainer Venetia Williams and PINK LEGEND looks a great bet to follow up here under useful claimer Hugh Nugent. The mare is open to further improvement and she will relish this soft ground. Gavrocheka is short enough at the head of the market as she has become a bit expensive to follow in two starts to date. She’ll need more to come out on top here but a mark of 112 is probably fair. Guardia Top is the one I fear most though as she is progressive and showed a good attitude to make all at Sandown last time.
