Race 7 Rosehill 6.15 Fituese (11/8)

Improving filly who won impressively at Randwick on return, quickening up widest of all to go clear at the line; only going to improve for that given it was her first run for four months and looks sure to relish the extra yardage here; good draw and chance is obvious.

This looks set up for FITUESE to take out. She is a likeable chestnut who is improving all the time. That was a very good win on return and with further gains likely she will be tough to beat again. The step up in trip looks ideal and she’s hard to oppose. Wayupinthesky is knocking on the door having finished runner-up at both Caulfield and Randwick on her last two starts. She looks a place banker but will need more to trouble the favourite. It’s hard to see anything else springing the upset.

Race 2 Gold Coast 2.54 Mongolian Wolf (2/1)

In form gelding who finished best of all to win over track and trip on penultimate start; did all his best work late on behind Magnufighter when second last time; this looks another good opportunity so expected to be hard to beat.

With the original NAP a late non runner the NB is now our best bet so our replacement Next Best is MONGOLIAN WOLF at Gold Coast. He is a likeable sort who won really well over C&D two starts back. If he matches that sort of form here he will go close under Robbie Fradd. It looks winnable! Le Juge is the danger as finished behind the selection last time. Lots Creek Gold won here beating New Universe latest but I think he’ll need more to overhaul the favourite.
