Ascot 1.55 Play Nifty Exclusively At Betfred Handicap (Class 2) 5f

We kick off ITV Racing on Sunday with a fiercely competitive sprint from Ascot. Magic J won in good style at Sandown 10 days ago and is entitled to plenty of respect but he is hit with an 8lb rise and I think that will make life tougher here. He is short enough in the betting and I fancy KONCHEK to reverse the form. He is 7lb better off and I think he is capable of an improve display at this track too. He is around 8/1 and looks great value.

Mountain Peak is also not discounted lightly as he brushed aside 12 rivals at Haydock before finishing a good second over C&D 2 weeks ago off a 7lb higher mark. Unchanged here so should hit the frame.

York 2.10 Sky Bet Daily Price Boosts Handicap (Class 3) 7f

Competitive handicap here but PRESIDENTIAL does stand out on his consistent form. He returned with a win at Doncaster before running well at Royal Ascot and Newmarket. This is a bit easier and he could take all the beating if holding his form.

Like the selection So Beloved will like the strong pace and will come late with the selection and potentially out-run his double figure price. Others to note include Firmament who has been well backed. Didn’t show much last time mind! Get Knotted is also worth mentioning being a 3-time C&D winner.

Ascot 2.30 Betfred ‘Fred’s Pushes’ Handicap (Class 2) 1m4f

Country really put them to the sword at Newmarket last month and ran out a convincing winner at the line. He is just 4lb higher so should go close again but is short enough so I’ve opted for DAL HORRISGLE as a bit of value. This son of Nathaniel is a real lengthy sort who should be open to further improvement this season. He caught the eye finishing fourth on return at Newmarket keeping on at the finish and can take a big step forward from that now and get competitive here. Makes plenty of appeal at around 6/1!

Bar the favourite Almania is also feared as he ran well when third here last month. Back in trip now and is entitled to go close. Hard to fancy much else but Protected Guest probably isn’t a 25/1 shot and may well run better than that suggests. Might be worth covering on the enhanced each way markets on bet365 as could easily finish in the top 5.

With front runners drawn 1 and 6 in this CAMACHO CHIEF will have some decent targets to aim at drawn in 2. He looked back to his best last time out with a nice win at Doncaster and a 4lb rise might not be enough to stop him in a race that should be run to suit.

Wentworth Falls has been running well and could prove the main danger but back up in weight I can see our selection beating him. Jonah Jones shaped well again last time and has to be respected but does look a tad short in the betting so may be worth taking on. This race has a nice each way appeal to it.

Curragh 2.55 Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1) 1m2f

This revolves around one horse for us and that is MAGICAL. She bids to make it back-to-back wins in this race and is rated well clear on paper. She was 2nd to Enable twice last year and has won 3 of her last 4 races with the only defeat coming in the Arc. Her form is as solid as it comes and as her price reflects she should be winning this.

To chase her home Armory is of interest getting weight from all of these being a 3 year-old and the step up in trip should be just what he needs so could be a bet in a forecast or without the favourite.

Curragh 2.55

Magical 1/3

Ascot 3.05 Betfred Valiant Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3) 1m

I found this a hard race to workout as while Billesdon Brook has been running well she doesn’t scream out that she is in the sort of form to take out a race like this and I think she might be worth opposing at the top of the market. 11/4 looks on the skinny side to me. Miss O Connor is obviously talented but at the same time tricky to train having only met the racecourse four times, winning all of them. She is facing much quicker ground here (if she runs) and again hasn’t been overlooked in the market.

At a price STYLISTIQUE is the one I’ve come down on. This tough filly kept finding to prevail by a nose on return from 244 days off the track. That was a likeable performance so it was disappointing to see her blow out at Haydock. She dwelt in rear and just took a bit of time to hit her stride. She did run on well but the race was over. I think she’s worth another chance and I can see this being run to suit so 12/1 should be snapped up!

York 3.20 British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Fillies’ Stakes (Listed) 1m21/2f

Cracking race with a couple of these with big futures ahead of them. FRANCONIA for the deadly duo of Dettori and Gosden looked very good when beating Cabaletta who has won since on his return to the track at Newbury. He will come on from that and will be tough to beat.

Gold Wand has set a decent standard so much so she was pitched into the Oaks where she fell short of that level but is clearly a good sort and rates the danger along with Beautiful Illusion. Hard to get away from the favourite though and she has to be the selection.

York 3.20

Franconia 4/6 MEGA ACCA

Ascot 3.40 Princess Margaret Betfred Stakes (Fillies’ Group 3) 6f

The way MORE BEAUTIFUL won on debut it’s way too soon to be writing her off following that Queen Mary disappointment. She is by War Front out of Maybe and is impeccably bred. She clocked a good time on debut and I just think Royal Ascot came too soon. She’s been given time since and we could see a different proposition this afternoon. I can see her being in a different league to this bunch so even at 11/8 she makes plenty of appeal for me.

I think the betting has this spot on and Caroline Dale will chase home the selection. She is a promising filly herself by Lethal Force and won well at Windsor. She can step forward again and give the selection most to think about. May always be playing second fiddle though.
