Best bets in Australia in the early hours of Saturday morning

A fair few meetings for a Sunday in Australia but we have selected some of the bigger meetings with Ballarat hosting the Grand National Chase and the Taree Cup also looks a good race.

Ablaze has already won the Grand National Hurdle and will have more favourable conditions in the steeplechase version which will likely make up for the weight hike.

Race 7 Taree 7:20 Korcho

With fairly comfortable wins in his last 2 starts at Rosehill KORCHO had to be the NAP today running in the Taree Cup. The style of those wins plus a trial to keep him cherry ripe for this looks the perfect prep for this race. The only one minor negative is the draw but with plenty of pace on the race should be run to suit and will be very hard to beat.

I don’t think this is an overly deep race and the danger looks to be Monegal but if Korcho is in the same form as before he should win this.

Race 5 Ballarat 6:45 Ascot Red

Winner of this race last year ASCOT RED has a great chance of winning it again. He is so consistent, rarely running out of the placings. He has gone close in his last 3 flat runs and that will be the perfect prep for this race. With conditions to suit he should make a bold bid to win this again.

Longclaw rates the main danger as is running really well in these conditions and should go well again.
