Race 8 Ipswich 8.04 Lyrical Girl (4/5)
Made no mistake back from 5 months off the track winning convincingly at Eagle Farm earlier this month; can kick on now she’s made the breakthrough and looks the most likely winner again here; tough to oppose.
The Aussie NAP was back to winning ways overnight as Golden Mean won despite taking a walk in the market. The Daily Double landed with the NB winning too. Confidence is high as we head into Thursday and LYRICAL GIRL is expected to justify favouritism at Ipswich. She won in the style of a mare going places and with a good draw here she should push forward and burn these off. Faith And Love and Primo Agosto are the only two conceivable dangers. The latter shouldn’t be underestimated but does need to find more to challenge. Faith And Love is probably the threat as she has been knocking on the door since winning. Hard to see them being good enough to peg back the fav.

Race 2 Hawkesbury 4.50 Explosive Truth (6/4)
Yet to make the breakthrough but only denied narrowly back from four months off the track when second at Kembla Grange last time; going the right way now and that latest piece of form looks very solid so rates the one to beat.
Hopefully EXPLOSIVE TRUTH leads and wins! He has been knocking on the door and was only run down in the shadow of the post last time. He can build on that and if he does he should have enough gears to take this out. The market has it as a two-horse race with Yulong Code the danger. He has only raced twice though and does lack experience. He hasn’t been seen for four months either so for me will need to put in a big run to overhaul the selection, which I can’t see happening. El Buena is no back number but he has his work cutout to mow down the front pair. The favourite should win this before going onto better things so fingers crossed.
