Cheltenham 1.15 mallard jewellers.com Novices’ Chase (Class 2) 3m1/2f

I’ve been waiting to see THE BIG BREAKAWAY again. He was due to make his reappearance at Chepstow last month but was taken out. The yard look to have turned a corner since and he is an exciting recruit to chasing. He did well over hurdles last season winning his first two starts very easily before finishing a creditable fourth to Envoi Allen in the Ballymore. I think that sort of test came a bit too soon for him and he remains open to stacks of improvement. He has the size and scope to go to the top over fences so anything but a winning return and I’ll be disappointed.

Soldier Of Love should chase him home in second. He has done nothing but improve since a wind op and is a solid yardstick. The Butcher Said has won two of his last three but is bumping into a smart sort in the favourite so needs plenty more to trouble the selection.

Cheltenham 1.50 Planteur At Chapel Stud Handicap Chase (Grade 3) 3m31/2f

Last year’s winner West Approach is back to defend his crown and even though he comes in with a similar prep run he has to carry 6lb more at the age of 10. I prefer DISCORAMA who loves it around Cheltenham with two cracking runs at the festival in the last 2 years. He lost out to Milan Native on his comeback and he will be even better at this trip and should go very well.

Last year’s winner obviously has a good chance but I think Captain Drake may prove to be the main danger off a mark of 142. Ramses De Teillee ran a good race on return and also comes into the reckoning.

Punchestown 2.10 Unibet Morgiana Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m

Abacadabras travelled best in the Supreme before being outbattled by Shishkin up the hill and has since been turned over by Aspire Tower in Ireland. Both of those runs are very good and he is entitled to plenty of respect but I think SAINT ROI will prove too good here. The latter powered home to win the County at the Festival before running out an impressive winner at Tipperary last month. He is firmly on the upgrade and looks to have a big chance of bringing up the four-timer now.

Abacadabras is the obvious threat as Supasundae, Jason The Militant and Coeur Sublime don’t make great appeal even at big odds. Very much a two-horse race.

Cheltenham 2.25 Shloer Chase (Registered As The Cheltenham Chase) (Grade 2) 2m

Our Daily Value Tip runs in this race. We fired in an 11/4 winner on Thursday and this tip was profitable to follow in October (already won 3 times this month at good prices). It’s completely FREE to access and is available everyday on the oddschecker app

Cheltenham 3.00 Unibet Greatwood Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m1/2f

The Greatwood is always a cracking handicap with plenty of double-figure priced winners and we are siding with TEGEREK. He was well backed over course and distance last time and beat a good rival in One True King who was second again yesterday. The form of the race looked very good and I would be surprised if 8lb is enough to stop him going close here.

Ballyandy is ultra-consistent but carrying top weight is big ask in this race and I think the main danger will be Edwardstone for Alan King who has a great record in this race. Edwardstone is clearly well regarded (ran in the Supreme) and goes well fresh so is feared. Thyme White is going the right way and is another not to be discounted easily.

Fontwell 3.15 Paddy Power Southern National Handicap Chase (Class 3) 3m31/2f

This looks a tough race to call with just 2 of the runners having run in the last 200 days. CHRISTMAS IN APRIL looks a solid option after last seasons form. He won 3 times last year before pulling-up at the end of the season. He goes well fresh, will like the trip and in a race where it hard to gauge where they are all at he looks the solid choice.

The danger could be Cloudy Glen if seeing out this trip and he could still be improving. Diable De Sivola also comes into the reckoning on speed figures so is another to consider.

Cheltenham 3.35 Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) 2m1/2f

Third Time Lucki made it 2 from 2 over hurdles at Wetherby last time and has impressed so far but his price puts me off as I think this is more competitive than the betting is suggesting. FIDELIO VALLIS is improving and should come on plenty from his reappearance second to Mrs Hyde at Kempton. This track should suit and I think he’s good value to get back to winning ways under Harry Cobden.

Courtandbould chased home Mcfabulous in the Persian War at Chepstow when last seen and sets the standard on that so won’t be easy to beat either. It’s a good race and one I’m looking forward to.

Cheltenham 4.05 High Sheriff Of Gloucestershire Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race (Listed Race) 2m1/2f

This is a bumper that usually attracts some good sorts and this years renewal looks no different. WESEEKHIMHERE has won his last two by a combined 20 lengths and looks a classy sort. He hasn’t beaten much on what we know but couldn’t have been more impressive and if in the same form he will take this for Gordon Elliot.

Grandeur D’Ame impressed on debut going clear a furlong from home and seems to be the main danger to the selection. Firestep is interesting on debut for Nicky Henderson and is the unknown quantity in the race.
