Race 6 Scone 5.25 Mother’s Mercy (10/11)

Promising mare who justified favouritism winning on debut here 324 days ago; open to improvement and been trialled in preparation so should be spot on; obvious chance of making it 2-2 and remaining unbeaten.

We head to Scone in the early hours of Monday morning and MOTHER’S MERCY should be too good for these. Obviously the betting will be informative given we haven’t seen her for a long time so I wouldn’t want to see her drift too much but as it stands she looks ready to do herself justice and has the most potential in this field. Leisa Louise is improving but she’ll need to take another step forward to give the favourite a race. She was only fifth last time but wasn’t beaten far so it wasn’t a bad effort. Now Or Never ran on well to finish second at Muswellbrook back from an absence last time and should also be involved for a place here.

Race 6 Taree 5.45 False Step (10/11)

Showed a good attitude to make a winning start at Scone last month, justifying strong support in the process; can improve from that and looks the most likely winner in this field; no surprise if she pushes forward and dictates.

Hard to get away from debutant winner FALSE STEP here. She did it well and looks sure to improve from that. If she does I think she wins again as this doesn’t look too competitive. Havana Storm has won her last two but hasn’t been seen since so while I can see her running well she will need to be plenty straight on return to overhaul the favourite. Anatolian Charm won at Coffs Harbour last time but this is altogether harder and she’ll need to find plenty more. Don’t Tell Dion is gradually improving and shouldn’t be completely discounted. I think she’s good value to run into a place if things drop right. It’s 10/1 bar the rest and I’m struggling to give anything a good shout at bigger odds.
