NAP – Best selection of the evening

THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT DONCASTER ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON!

Doncaster 2.05 Ibleo (11/8)

Lightly raced sort who has come into his own over fences; won his first two starts impressively before bumping into Canelo at Huntingdon; improved this term and did it well at Sandown latest; more to come; keep on side.

The NAP is on a tough run so hopefully we can get it back on track on Friday. We head over jumps at Doncaster and IBLEO is fancied to follow up for Venetia Williams. He won going away at Sandown last time and with the promise of more to come he has to be the selection to get the better of The Big Bite. The latter is a strapping sort who improved to win at Aintree in November. He’s been given time since but is 5lb higher and comes up against a very good horse in the selection. I fancy the pair to battle this one out but ready preference is for the favourite. Whoshotthesheriff wasn’t at his best at Newcastle and has a bit to prove but is respected on best form. Little Light and Charmant out their depth.

NB – Second best selection of the day

THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS IN IRELAND AT NAVAN ON FRIDAY!

Navan 3.00 The Big Dog (15/8)

Likeable type who finished third to Colreevy on chase debut at Punchestown before unseating on next start; back to form staying on well behind Longhouse Poet last month; unexposed and big chance now.

Lord Royal is favourite here but he isn’t entirely trustworthy for me. He was set to win on debut over fences before falling 2 out at Thurles but then failed to back that up when turned over at odds-on at Naas last month. He has a bit to prove after that and while he is respected I want to oppose him at short odds. THE BIG DOG looks to be coming to the boil now and he should relish this test. He caught the eye staying on well behind Longhouse Poet at Punchestown and with improvement to come he looks sure to go close here. I think it’ll take a good one to beat him. Defi Bleu fell 2 out at Leopardstown last month but would also enter the reckoning if managing to bounce back from that.
