NAP – Best selection of the evening

THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS ON THE AW AT KEMPTON ON WEDNESDAY EVENING!

Kempton 5.25 Starshiba (10/3)

Caught the eye on final start as a 3yo when second to Stone Soldier over 7f here; lost ground at the start on return before getting outpaced by the winner; career best last time to win going away; more to come up to a mile for the first time.

It’s another tricky day on Wednesday so I’ve taken a chance on one at a decent price in the shape of STARSHIBA at Kempton. This Acclamation gelding really impressed last time coming with a sustained challenge to edge ahead and win going away under Probert. He can improve again tackling a mile for the first time and looks the one they all have to beat with Hollie Doyle getting the leg up. Via Serendipity is a model of consistency and he chased home the progressive Fox Duty Free last time so he shouldn’t be far away. I just think the selection has the most potential so given his unexposed profile in comparison he might improve past him. Sanaadh won well last time and is also respected up 3lb.

NB – Second best selection of the day

THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT WARWICK ON WEDNESDAY!

Warwick 3.40 Morning Spirit (7/2)

Strong staying sort who looked to be getting the better of the argument when left clear to win comfortably at Ascot last time; progressing nicely now and this test looks ideal as stamina in abundance; up in grade but big shout of following up.

When the going gets tough MORNING SPIRIT could be the one to be on here for Jonjo O’Neill. This 6yo by Milan had been running well in defeat and built on an encouraging third at Kempton to get off the mark easily at Ascot last time. He was left clear at the last with Fawsley Spirit taking a tired fall and that was a career best on the figures. He can keep improving as his stamina is drawn out and looks the one to beat. I’m actually quite surprised he is 7/2 at the time of writing – should go off shorter than that. Shah An Shah was suited by the step up in trip when winning over 3 miles at Doncaster last February and could emerge as one of the main dangers to the selection.
