NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT BATH ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Bath 4.10 Golden Flame (5/4)
Golden Horn colt who has some solid efforts in the book and ran right up to form when second on return on the AW last month; should be spot on now and hard to oppose in a race where experience could prove crucial.
With just 3 rivals to beat this afternoon it’s hard to look past GOLDEN FLAME as he bids to open his account. He ran well on return last month and back on turf he remains unexposed over this trip and should have too much. I expect Kirby to bounce him out in front and try and make all as his experience should prove crucial. Mark Johnston is operating at a 22% strike rate in the past fortnight so the yard are very much in form. Going Gone showed promise in testing conditions at Goodwood and can do better but just looks to be bumping into one here. He is the one I expect to chase the fav home though. Both Wantage and newcomer Everett are entitled to come on for the experience.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS ON THE FLAT AT PONTEFRACT!
Pontefract 2.00 Waldkonig (11/8)
Kingman colt who made a big impression sweeping away to win on debut; third to Mishriff at Newmarket and then bumped into Highest Ground at Haydock; strong form and hard to oppose on handicap debut.
This should throw up plenty of future winners but the one I want to be on is WALDKONIG for John and Thady Gosden. This son of Kingman has some really good form in the book and while he didn’t quite live up to the hype following his impressive debut he could still be a very useful operator and entering handicap company now he is expected to take all the beating. Louganini is a nice horse too who is lightly raced. I think he’d prefer a bit of cut underfoot though so might find things happening a bit too quickly here. Fishable could be the danger. He improved to win back-to-back handicaps last summer and should do better this term so is respected in opposition.
