Ripon 4.35 Emperor Spirit (11/8)
Holy Roman Emperor colt who ran on well once the penny dropped to finish third on debut; trouble in-running when closing fast for second next start; improved again to justify strong support on final start; more to come and the one to beat.
There was a lot to like about the way EMPEROR SPIRIT improved with every run last season. He beat some good horses on final start at Wolverhampton and back from 131 days off the track now tackling handicap company he looks to have been let in lightly off a mark of 86 and he should take all the beating. He is still improving and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t come through strongly and pick these up at the finish. Top Of The Pops is by Kingman and made a winning debut before finding the step up to 1m2f too taxing at Chelmsford. He should be happier back down to a mile and looks the main danger. Grantley is capable of better at some point but just looks to be bumping into a couple.

Newcastle 7.25 Unforgotten (13/8)
Progressive sort who caught the eye going down narrowly on debut at Lingfield and quickly stepped forward on return when filling the same position behind Mohaafeth who won impressively yesterday; blinkers on and hard to oppose.
With the form of that latest run strongly franked it’s hard to look past UNFORGOTTEN here for John and Thady Gosden. This son of Exceed And Excel ran a cracker last time and won’t need to improve much to open his account. The blinkers should help straighten him out under pressure and he is taken to have too much for My Swallow and Baby Alya. The latter made a winning debut over C&D but hasn’t been seen for 7 months so while she is open to improvement she might just struggle bumping into a race-fit rival with strong form. My Swallow has had a wind op since winning at Sandown 7 months ago and is also entitled to strip fitter for the run but definitely worth respecting.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Ripon and Newcastle on Thursday.
