NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN IRELAND AT PUNCHESTOWN ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON!
Punchestown 4.15 Echoes In Rain (10/11)
Progressive mare who travelled like a dream before easing clear at Fairyhouse last time; won 3 of her last 4 now and should be more to come so obvious chance of continuing her upward progression here; keep on side.
The mares allowance makes ECHOES IN RAIN a strong bet here. It’s hard to pick holes in her form having demolished subsequent County Hurdle winner Belfast Banter by 8 lengths at Naas. That horse followed up impressively at Aintree so it’s been nicely franked since. She can keep improving if she settles and as good as Blue Lord could be I think she’ll have his measure. I’m fully expecting a 1-2 for Willie Mullins as he has a really good record in this race. Blue Lord obviously comes into this off a fall so connections will be hoping for a clear round. The better ground will help him but I just think the selection has that star quality and if she steps forward again she is extremely hard to get away from.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS ON THE FLAT AT NOTTINGHAM ON TUESDAY!
Nottingham 4.30 Lostwithiel (10/11)
Unbeaten son of Camelot who made the perfect start winning on debut at Bath in September last year; followed up impressively on return at Wolverhampton at the start of the month; more to come up in trip and should make it 3-3.
I’ve been really impressed with George Boughey and he looks to have another nice horse on his hands in the shape of LOSTWITHIEL. He has won both starts to date and with further improvement a distinct possibility now going up in trip he can complete the hat-trick. This is a better race so he’ll need to step forward but why wouldn’t he? He is bred to relish this trip and I’m struggling to oppose. Hochfeld is a decent yardstick and was back to form winning at Glorious Goodwood last summer. He has been a bit hit and miss since though but still rates the danger to the selection if things pan out favourably. Monsieur Lambrays has a bit to prove but is also worthy of some respect.
