NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS ON THE FLAT AT GOODWOOD ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON!
Goodwood 3.20 Nelson Gay (5/6)
Progressive sort who completed the hat-trick head in chest at Sandown last week; a lot to like about that performance and with further improvement on the cards he is hard to oppose turned out quickly under a 6lb penalty.
I’m expecting NELSON GAY to be a red-hot fav come post time at Goodwood on Friday. This improving son of Mehmas came sweeping through to win as he liked at Sandown last week and with the promise of more to come he gets a confident vote to go in again and make it four in a row for Richard Hughes. He has always been well thought of and it’s good to see him making inroads now. Peerless has won 2 of his last 3 and should at least give the favourite a race. He is up 7lb himself and this certainly demands more. I do think he’s most likely to chase the selection home though. Warrior Brave is well bred being by Twilight Son but needs to cheekpieces to help him bounce back to his best.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS ON THE FLAT AT CHEPSTOW ON FRIDAY!
Chepstow 1.15 Auriferous (7/4)
Improving type who easily ran his best race to date going down just over a length at Kempton over this trip for the first time last month; sure to do better and experience could count for plenty so good chance of going one better.
Even after 3 runs AURIFEROUS still looks a bit inexperienced so there should be plenty of improvement to come yet. He has only run over this trip once and that saw him get closest to a win. He was second to Otyrar and that colt has since bumped into Contact who looks a smart prospect. On collateral form that ties in with our Value Tip today which is certainly interesting. The main danger could be New Approach filly Amy Beach. She showed promise amidst greenness when fifth at Newbury on debut and the fact she was sent off a huge price says a lot. She should take a big step forward today but whether that’s enough to beat the fav is another question. Talbeyah is also worth respecting.
