Windsor 7.20 Aplomb (6/4)
Ran on strongly at Newbury on return on debut for this yard at Newbury last week, just failing to get up; fitter now and rain in his favour with Ryan Moore booked for the ride; everything points towards another big run.
I really thought APLOMB was going to get there at Newbury on Friday but on reflection it was a big effort to get as close as he did. The pair were comfortably clear from the rest and this looks easier if anything dropping from a Class 2 to a Class 4 now. The rain certainly wouldn’t bother him and with Moore up he looks the one to beat so it’s no surprise to see him figure prominently in the betting. Power Over Me has been flying on the AW winning 5 of his last 6 but it’s a big ask switching back to turf up 6lb. Punchbowl Flyer has run two creditable races since returning and I think he will emerge as the danger to the selection. Ivatheengine also has to be considered back up in trip.

Redcar 1.20 Mutawaarid (2/1)
Dawn Approach gelding who showed plenty of promise going down just a length on debut at Wolverhampton last month; winner potentially useful and fifth has won since so form franked; this looks a good opportunity.
This looks a good chance on paper for MUTAWAARID to make the breakthrough. He beat all bar a promising colt of Roger Varian’s when second on debut at Wolverhampton and if he improves for that initial experience he should go one better and open his account. I think with usual progression he takes this out. The fifth Final Watch won well at Newmarket on his next start so the form has been given some substance. Grangeclare View isn’t a bad horse but he’s had a few chances already and I think the selection can improve past him. Lilikoi could emerge as the danger as she was only beaten narrowly last time and is a danger if stepping forward again. Trevolli is also worth a second look.
