NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS ON THE AW AT KEMPTON ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT!
Kempton 7.20 Royal Pleasure (10/11)
Kingman colt who made a bright start winning on debut as a 2yo; went down narrowly next start and improved again to make a winning return last month; open to further progress and one to keep firmly on side for now.
I thought there was a lot to like about the way ROYAL PLEASURE won on return and given he is 2 from 3 now he looks to be thoroughly progressive and rates the one to beat in this field despite a penalty. The likes of Broxi and Red Mirage could end up taking each other on so that could set it up perfectly for the selection. He is likely to be ridden quietly before picking them off in the closing stages. The way he picked up last time really was quite impressive. Lethal Force filly Join Forces opened her account in gutsy style at Southwell in April and could emerge as the main danger. Adelita is quite a big price and it wouldn’t surprise me if she was on the toes of those trying to grab a place.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT NOTTINGHAM ON WEDNESDAY!
Nottingham 4.15 Lightning Attack (15/8)
Caught the eye staying on strongly when denied just a neck at Bath last month; wouldn’t need to build on that much to get himself back in the winners enclosure; worth chancing especially in a race as winnable as this.
I know LIGHTNING ATTACK hasn’t won for a while but he couldn’t have run much better last time missing out by just a neck and if he reproduces that sort of form here I think he’ll get back in the winners enclosure. The fact that New Look is second fav, a horse that hasn’t won dating back 38 starts says a lot about the race. Elusive Heights fails to put it all in so is another who figures prominently in the betting but is hard to make a solid case for. Similar comments apply to Dancing Jo who hasn’t won for 27 starts. The doubts over the opposition make the selection an even stronger play so I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t go and get the job done off the back of that really encouraging effort.
