THE US NAP (BEST BET) WON LAST NIGHT AND RUNS AT LONE STAR PARK TONIGHT!

Race 5 Lone Star Park 9.57 Irish Unity (1/1)

Impressive start going through the gears to win easily on debut over the extended 6f here earlier this month; professional out the gate and lengthened smartly in the straight; must have a big engine; hard to oppose.

I know this requires a step up but it was hard not to be taken with the way IRISH UNITY won on debut and if he improves he is going to take a lot of beating here. He was alert out the gate and secured a good position. What I liked was how he let one horse up his inside but was always travelling kindly and once in the straight he was completely d0minant. He stretched out impressively once given his head and it was a performance that screamed out a horse with considerable ability. He will probably have to fight for this tonight but I think he has a bright enough future and I’m keen to keep him on side for now. Brad’s Time also made a winning start and looks the most obvious danger.

Race 8 Gulfstream 9.30 La Chica Lateral (6/5)

Pinged the lids and was always dictating on debut, ultimately winning well despite looking as though she’d improve for it; took a bump at the start last time but good speed to recover and poured it on after; hat-trick beckons now.

I think she needs to dictate but given the start was hardly smooth last time and LA CHICA LATERAL still went on to win impressively I think she has a big engine. She clearly relishes dirt and looks a real grinder. This requires another step up but given the improvement she showed from her first start to the next and with further progress on the cards she’s expected to make it 3 wins in a row. Patrick’s Lass is building up a nice profile having won 3 of her last 4 now. She just about scrambled home last time but that was a likeable effort and she looks the danger to the favourite. Sunshine City has only raced 3 times on dirt and also has to be respected but is vulnerable to an improver.
