Promising filly who has won both starts since third on debut and always getting on top at Cairns last time; open to further improvement and can strip fitter now so hard to oppose as she bids to bring up the hat-trick.

The Aussie NAP is chasing a hat-trick on Tuesday as we head to Townsville. ELITE STANDARD is progressing nicely and given she is likely to push forward again I can’t see anything in this field good enough to peg her back. She goes up through the gears in good style and looks firmly on the upgrade now. Giordano has just 1 win from 8 starts but don’t underestimate. I think he’ll be the one to give the selection a race. Peony Rose has some consistent form to her name but she is coming up against a big improver in the favourite and might always be struggling. Norwegian Wood has turned a corner lately winning 2 of her last 3 so she might be the value play in terms of a place.

Race 1 Ballarat 4.00 Tranquil Bay (6/4)

Good looking filly who has shown plenty of ability in 3 starts to date and looked a bit unlucky last time; keen, crowded and unbalanced at one point last time and still only beaten a head; sets a good standard.

It’s hard to look past TRANQUIL BAY here following a really encouraging effort on return. Plenty went wrong but she ran on strongly at the finish and was only denied narrowly. She should be more streetwise now and if she settles better with the cobwebs blown away she is expected to have too much class for these. Reynaire is a nice colt in the making and he ran well when third last time so he looks the obvious threat. Debutant Akoni is interesting but he has no trial form so hard to know how good he could be. Judging by the market he is entitled to need this initial outing before doing better in time. Hard to see anything else really landing a blow in a race that lacks strength in depth.
