NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT YARMOUTH ON THURSDAY!
Yarmouth 1.15 Genesius (5/4)
Left reappearance run and stable debut well behind winning convincingly at Goodwood last month with the field well strung out in behind; likely to step forward again on just his third start for this yard; obvious chance.
A 4lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop GENESIUS taking all the beating at Yarmouth this afternoon. He was briefly denied a run before switching left and coming home strongly. That win gave the impression there is more to come so this looks a good opportunity for him to go in again and strike while the iron is hot. Mahanakhon Power reacted well to a first-time visor when winning over C&D last time. He looks the most obvious danger to the favourite but does have a bit to find. Nathaniel filly Toora Loora should return to form at some point but she was last of 3 at Haydock when last seen so will need to improve on that to have any sort of a say here. Probably looking at a place at best right now.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS ON THE FLAT AT HAYDOCK ON THURSDAY!
Haydock 1.00 Gunnerside (15/8)
Good looking grey who arrives here in the form of his life having won 5 of his last 7; impressed again with how he won at Ayr last time and even up 7lb he should take a lot of beating as probably still more to come yet.
I’ve got to stick with GUNNERSIDE here even though the market is favouring Sound Reason. The latter gets a handy weight-for-age allowance so that brings them closer together but even still the selection has been so impressive and his ceiling doesn’t look to have been reached yet. He was always getting there last time and crossed the line with plenty to spare for me. Sound Reason is the danger but Saras Hope shouldn’t be ignored either as he ended last season with a career best at Nottingham albeit in soft ground in October. Likely to step forward again but will need rain to be seen to best effect. Hard to see any of the others springing a surprise but Dapper Man does like it here.
