NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS OVER AT SANDOWN ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Sandown 1.35 Dukedom (1/1)
Dubawi colt who was all the rage for debut over C&D but looked to bump into an exciting prospect on that occasion; sure to improve plenty from that initial experience and looks hard to oppose; tons of potential.
I know DUKEDOM was turned over at odds-on over C&D on debut earlier this month but that was a performance with plenty of encouragement and the winner Sonny Liston looks an exciting type. He is sure to be more streetwise here and I think he can go one better under Frankie Dettori. King’s Guard is the obvious danger as he has finished second on both starts shaping as though he’d improve. He could be a nice horse himself but might just be bumping into one again here. Kingman colt Thesis is the most intriguing newcomer. He is a brother to Boardman and half brother to Balestra and Quadrilateral so it will be interesting to see how he runs but I think experience will count for plenty.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER IN IRELAND AT LEOPARDSTOWN!
Leopardstown 6.30 I Siyou Baby (11/8)
Siyouni filly who took a big step forward to open her account at the Curragh last time, powering clear; carries a penalty here but obvious chance on handicap debut if this doesn’t come too soon; big chance.
She has top weight here but even still I SIYOU BABY should prove hard to beat. She is technically 9lb well in so it’s no surprise to see her turned out quickly following that convincing maiden win on Sunday. She looks to be improving as she gains experience and it’s no surprise to see her favourite to follow up. Puerto De Vega also clocked a career best at Dundalk last time and looks one of the dangers. Captain Middleton is lightly raced and it wouldn’t be all that surprising if he emerged as the danger to the favourite. That wasn’t a bad run when third to New Hill at Gowran last time. Windsor Pass is likely to be thereabouts but I think she’s vulnerable for win purposes so is passed over again.
