Lingfield 5.10

We kick off the 5th week of the Racing League with a sprint handicap and it does look highly competitive which is what we’ve come to expect. SON AND SANNIE is one who may have been given a decent chance by the handicapper who only raised him 3lb for a close second in a good race at York last month. He won off of a higher mark on the AW last year and has a great chance back on this surface.

Leodis Dream has some of the best time figures on this surface over the last year and now he is back down to a workable mark he will be the biggest danger in the field. Old boy Shamshon still seems to be in good heart and won’t be far away if holding his great run of form.

Lingfield 5.40

I’ve probably given MANIGORDO too many chances already but I can’t help but be drawn in again at odds of 7/1 tonight. 6f is definitely his optimum trip and that was a big run to finish fifth in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon last time. He has actually been dropped a 1lb for that and if they opt for patient tactics again I think he could be finishing best of all under Paddy Mathers. I think he needs to be held up to see him to best effect but there isn’t a great deal of pace on so I hope they’re not tempted to go forward.

Marks Bear put it altogether to score on the AW here a fortnight ago and he is only up 2lb so has to be seriously considered again. Natural Path is unexposed as a sprinter and also looks one of the big players in this field.

Manigordo 7/1 each way

Lingfield 6.10

Another very competitive race with GOLDEN FORCE catching the eye in the Racing League 2 weeks ago over course and distance. He lost out by just over a length but was very keen which cost him in the finish. He should get a lead from Dinoo in this race which should see him run very well off the same mark again and he looks a fair price to go to war with.

Dinoo will likely be the main danger as he is unexposed in handicaps and looked very good when winning a novice event at Haydock last month. They either look exposed or are struggling to find their best trips so I think it will be tight between the two mentioned.

Lingfield 6.40

Hong Kong Harry is chasing a hat-trick for Richard Fahey and he has to be feared but he’s going to need to improve again to win this and I think DULAS looks much better value. He hasn’t been running badly in some fiercely competitive handicaps and back down to his last winning mark now I think he can make a big impact here despite being a double-figure price at the time of writing. I know he probably needs to bounce back but that’s a chance worth taking in a race as open as this.

Billhilly is also on a hat-trick like the favourite but was given a peach by Louis Steward last time and will find this tougher up another 4lb. Carolus Magnus is worth a market check going handicapping for the first time back from a break.

Lingfield 7.10

This looks one of the toughest races to call all evening with plenty of these not looking that well handicapped. For that reason I am siding with WITHAM RIVER who could have plenty of improvement to come. He just lost out over this trip at the Curragh 2 weeks ago and he could easily step forward from that on handicap debut. The in-form David Egan is onboard and I think he may be the least exposed and worth a bet.

Of the rest Anythingtoday is in really good form but has struggled off marks around 90 and at the age of 7 he may not have much wiggle room. Oslo is similar, in top form lately but is up a further 4lb back on the AW. He has most of the best times of all of these and he could still be the one to give the selection the most to think about.

Lingfield 7.40

I’m expecting a big run from CORBULO here with Dwyer in the saddle. This son of Belardo has won 4 of his last 6 and arrives on a hat-trick after impressing again at Doncaster last time. He finds tons off the bridle so I don’t think the assessor has caught up with him yet. The step up to a mile and a half could also unlock further improvement and I think he is good value in the market at 6/1 at the time of writing.

Powerful Aggie shaped well when fourth on handicap debut over this C&D a fortnight ago and she looks the danger to the selection if improving again. Red October has gone close twice since winning at Leicester and is also worth a second look.

Corbulo 6/1 each way
