Doncaster 1.45

This looks quite a good nursery but VALUE TIP looks a really promising colt after rattling home to open his account at just the third time of asking at Beverley last time. He made really smooth headway that day and even with David Egan losing an iron he kept finding to win readily by nearly 5 lengths at the line. The form of his two runs before that look solid and I think an opening mark of just 80 underestimates his ability. He is sure to keep improving and looks one to keep on side for now.

Modern Games is favourite but he was turned over at odds-on last time and is going to need another sizeable step forward to win this. Jadhlaan is a horse I like but top-weight in here won’t be easy and that’s reflected in his price in the market. Implore ran well at Sandown last month and it wouldn’t surprise me if he emerged as the main danger to the selection in a change of headgear.

Doncaster 2.20

Very interesting race with some good form in the book without being anything amazing and some newcomers with fantastic pedigrees who could be capable of winning first time out. I am going to side with CAPITAL THEORY who has run in two very good races overs 7 furlongs which represents the best form on offer. He has some good entries and based on him looking inexperienced in both runs he will be better stepping up to a mile and will go close.

I think the main danger here could be the Frankel newcomer Fantastic. He is a brother to Cracksman so starting at a mile shouldn’t be an issue for him and if mature enough he should give a very good account. Dubawi colt Tangled Words ran a promising race first-up when fourth at Newmarket and looks best of the rest in an intriguing race.

Doncaster 2.50

It’s the Legends race now and I wouldn’t be going mad in this. Tough race to call but a tentative vote goes to SHINING AITCH who has been in good form this season. He showed a good attitude to win at Nottingham over 1m2f in July and has been beaten narrowly twice since. While he was fourth last time he was beaten less than 2 lengths and back down to a mile if they go hard here it could play nicely into his hands.

Geraghty saddles Mumtaaz so he tops the market after a good second at Windsor. He is consistent but I think he’ll find a couple too good and is too short in the betting. First Dance is a mare in cracking form and she might emerge as the danger.

Doncaster 3.25

This was a fairly tough renewal to call with some horses that are more than capable of running at a higher level in here and I have it between JUST BEAUTIFUL and Highfield Princess and they dominate the top of the market between them. Just Beautiful is unbeaten over 7 furlongs and her recent efforts in Group company look very good. Her run in the Falmouth to finish 2 lengths behind Snow Lantern looks amongst the best on offer and I’m happy to chance her against these.

Highfield Princess is well matched with the 3 year old but has to give her weight being a year older. Her second behind Space Blues would be good enough to win this if repeating that run but I feel the selection will match-up well with her and gets the vote.

Doncaster 4.00

When the market first formed for this Arecibo was a clear fav but all the money has been for KHAADEM overnight and it’s easy to see why. When he won the Stewards’ Cup back in 2019 he looked a horse going places and while things haven’t quite gone to plan I still think he possesses plenty of ability. He was rather lit-up by the first-time blinkers at Newmarket and just overraced. If he can settle better here I think he’ll be hitting the line strong dropped back to 5f now.

Arecibo has to be respected down in class and looks the danger. Live In The Moment chased home Copper Knight at York and could pick up the pieces if the front pair disappoint. Tarboosh likes it here but needs to bounce back and this isn’t exactly an easy race to do it in.

Doncaster 4.30

We only have 7 runners for this but it doesn’t lack in quality and I can only really discount a few of these. I have the suspicion that the top two in the market could be Group horses in the making. I am going to side with the top-weight FAISAL who looks to have plenty to come after everything went wrong in his last race (slowly away, keen, hampered) and he still won easily enough. That was his first run of the season so should improve a bundle for that so a 3lb penalty is no problem and I expect him to make it 4 wins from 4 starts.

Anmaat is the main danger after an impressive win at Bath leaves him on a mark of 94. That is up 8lb from that run but he did do it easily and always looked in contorl. He is likely to be rated higher in the future but I think Faisal is likely to be the better of the two. Maiden Castle needs to step up on his latest runs to get involved but is clearly in good form.

Doncaster 5.00

A lively market for this one and I’ve taken two against the field. My main play in the race is now REWAAYAT for Charlie Hills. The yard seem to be firing on all fronts and this son of Pivotal looks well handicapped to me off a mark of 85. He ran a big race on reappearance when second to Arecibo and while he didn’t build on that at Ascot or Chelmsford last time he did have excuses and if he bounces back he could be a big player in an open race.

I also thought BOMB PROOF was worth including at a big price (now double digits). He is still unexposed as a sprinter and ran well when second to Tyger Bay on return at Kempton. That was his first start following a wind op so I expect him to improve again and he looks underestimated in the betting. Dangers include the fav Al Simmo and Nelson Gay is he rediscovers some form.
