Wolverhampton 8.30 Meadram (5/4)
Took his form to a new level up in trip on handicap debut winning convincingly over C&D last month; did that with plenty to spare so a 3lb rise unlikely to stop him following up with the promise of more to come; one to keep on side.
The NAP won again yesterday meaning we head into Saturday chasing a FIVE-TIMER. It’s a bit of a wait given it’s in the last race of the day but MEADRAM really impressed me last time and given he is likely to improve from that run he will be hard to beat under just a 3lb rise. He stayed on really well and took it up going best in the closing stages. The extra yardage saw him to good effect and he remains unexposed. Aussie Rascal is still a maiden but wasn’t disgraced in third here last time. He needs to prove his stamina but there should be better days ahead with him given his breeding. Sir John Bowdler can also do better at some point but might just need a bit more time and experience.

Fontwell 4.00 Helford River (13/8)
No surprise to see him improve tackling fences for the first time winning readily at Newton Abbot last month; only going to come on for the experience and looks well placed to follow up under a 3lb rise; more to come.
With one or two questions over his rivals and Finistere probably going to be better for the experience I think this can go the way of HELFORD RIVER for Colin Tizzard. This son of Presenting shaped as though he’d improve for the switch from hurdles to fences and did just that scoring with plenty in hand at Newton Abbot last month. He really hit the line well and the way he went through that race suggests he is still inexperienced. If he comes on for that run which he should then he will have these in trouble. Finistere goes up in trip for his chase bow and is probably the danger. Both College Oak and Bill And Barn are fair yardsticks but they are both coming up against two potential improvers.
