I still think it’s early days with MEZZANOTTE and I know she disappointed at Ffos Las last time but she has only had 6 starts and she is bred to come into her own over this sort of trip. She has been eased 2lb so from a handicapping perspective I think she has a huge chance. She needs to bounce back granted but that’s why we’re getting a double-figure price. Sir Mark Prescott has been in good form and that has to be another plus.
It’s a competitive race and Copperknob would have to be feared. He is by Churchill and was a good fifth at Kempton last time shaping as though he’d come into his own up in trip which is what he gets here. Dawn Approach filly Sun Rising looks best of the rest.
Chelmsford 6.00
This looks like a pretty standard novice stakes apart from TOLLARD ROYAL who’s debut run was very impressive to say the least. He won by 3 and a half lengths and could have easily won by more if needed to. He is proven on the all weather and over this trip and even with a penalty for the debut win he is the one to beat again.
It isn’t a deep race so Echosmith could be the danger if stepping forward again after an improved effort at Ayr last time and could run a place behind the selection at a big price. Nathaniel filly Typical Woman also deserves a market check.
Chelmsford 6.30
This looks a straight shootout between Buick and Murphy again! I prefer the chances of RAMADHAAN for Saeed bin Suroor. This filly by Ribchester is a half-sister to Raaeb and made a bright start when third on debut at Haydock. That form looks particularly strong with even the sixth Rousay looking a promising type winning her next start. She is going to improve and if she does I think she’ll have too much for Notions.
Jamie Osborne’s colt also made a bright start when second at Windsor having been slowly away. He will improve too but I think the selection has stronger form so that tilts the balance. The pair do look a cut above the rest but Al Baahy also has a promising future and could run well.
Chelmsford 7.00
This looks a very competitive handicap with three 9/2 joint favourites at the time of writing. One of those is BILLY MILL who went really well at Wolverhampton just over a week ago finishing second. He gets to run off the same mark and seems to run his best races on this surface so I would expect a big run from him again.
Eagle Creek romped home last month at Wolverhampton and if in the same form he should go well here even up 7lb. Of the rest Discover Dubai could have a live chance on handicap debut but it is hard to tell if 80 is good mark or not for him with the mixed form he has shown so far.
Chelmsford 7.30
This looks a great chance for Buick to add another winner in his race to be Champion Jockey. LORD LOVELACE has looked promising in two starts to date. He made a winning debut at Kempton in August and then bumped into Sunray Major when second over C&D last month, clear from the rest. That colt has since franked the form winning a competitive handicap at Ascot impressively. He carries a penalty but is only going to improve again and should justify favouritism.
Oisin Murphy rides main market rival Golden Owl. This War Front filly improved a chunk to finish second at Chepstow in August and with more to come in the first-time blinkers could chase home the favourite. Twilight Son filly Under The Twilight could also step forward and have a say.
Chelmsford 8.00
This looks another wide open race with the bookies going 5/1 the field at the time of writing. With the nice each way prices on offer I am going to give FINAL VOYAGE another chance back down to a mile. He went close in a competitive race over course and distance 2 starts ago and is capable of winning off a mark of 93 (won off 92 already).
Far Hope has been in such good form lately you would expect her to be dangerous again here and give the selection something to think about. Montather is attracting support and likes this surface so could easily bounce back.
Chelmsford 8.30
The money was down for NOTEBOOK at Lingfield and he made no mistake, staying on strongly to get up and assert in the closing stages. He has improved since joining this stable and I think they’re seeing the benefits of the wind op he had in the spring. A 5lb rise looks perfectly reasonable and if he produces that turn of foot again here I think he’ll go in again.
Zefferino has won over this C&D before and ran well when second to Blue Hero at Bath last time with the front pair clear. His recent form looks pretty useful so he is the danger for me off the same mark. Aiguillette has Buick booked so will probably end up popular in the market but he was beaten 2 lengths off this mark last time and has a bit of work to do. Kodimoor ran better than he has been when second last time but this is tougher.
