NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT WINCANTON ON THURSDAY!
Wincanton 3.30 Strike The Flint (9/4)
Useful mare who caught my eye bumping into a couple of improvers when third at Fontwell and built on that to get back in the winners enclosure at Plumpton last month, making all and going away at the finish; hard to oppose.
It was hard to argue with the way STRIKE THE FLINT won at Plumpton. She looked a happy horse bossing them off the front and was always travelling well within herself. When asked to kick on she did so readily and was actually going away again at the finish. The handicapper has reacted raising her 8lb but under similar tactics here I think she’ll take a lot of pegging back. Cry Wolf sprung a 50/1 surprise winning at Worcester in August and wasn’t disgraced in third at Uttoxeter last month so looks the danger. Olympic Honour is a leggy sort who remains well treated on his best form but will need to put behind a really poor effort when last over hurdles at Uttoxeter finishing nearer last than first.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT CARLISLE ON THURSDAY!
Carlisle 4.50 Armattiekan (5/2)
Won going away off this mark at Market Rasen back in April; better when third at Warwick last month and should be spot on for this now with the ground in his favour; looks a good bet to serve it up to the favourite and worth chancing.
If ARMATTIEKAN can put in a clear round of jumping under Brian Hughes I have no doubt that he’ll win this and win it well. We know he can win off this mark as he showed back in April and with Cool Country out the race has cut up somewhat. Sword Of Fate is favourite at the time of writing off the back of that Perth win. He is 6lb higher here though and I think he might be opposable at this track. The ground has come up Good which will suit the selection and if he jumps well he can fend them all off under Brian Hughes. Gripper fell at Hexham last time but might get competitive if his confidence hasn’t been knocked. Still has a bit to find though so is opposable on the balance.
