NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT CHELTENHAM ON FRIDAY!
Cheltenham 3.30 Gelino Bello (6/4)
Improving fast judging by the way he swept rivals aside to make a winning debut over hurdles at Aintree last month; visual impression backed up by the clock so with further progress to come should me it 2-2 over timber here.
This has been won by some really nice horses down the years and GELINO BELLO may well be another one for Paul Nicholls. He powered clear to make a winning hurdles debut at Aintree last month and with scope to improve plenty yet he should make it 2-2 in this discipline here. That win at Aintree was backed up by the clock and it’s going to take a good one to stop him. Off Your Rocco is chasing a hat-trick but has to give the selection 5lb. Blazing Khal comes over from Ireland and shouldn’t be underestimated either but I think he might just lack that class-edge the favourite looks to have. This is a good race and the winner should go on to make into a nice prospect.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT NEWCASTLE!
Newcastle 3.10 Notions (5/2)
Lope De Vega colt who caught the eye running on strongly close home after a slow start to finish second on debut at Windsor; improved to make the breakthrough at Chelmsford last month and could be potentially useful.
I think both the top 2 in the betting here look like nice horses but NOTIONS gets a strong vote to come out on top. He showed a good attitude to take it up inside the final furlong at Chelmsford and was well on top at the line. He is improving with experience and I’ll be surprised if he is beaten here under Saffie Osborne. Honky Tonk Man did it well at Lingfield and is still learning on the job so with more to come should give the fav a race. Frankel colt Franktanck makes his debut for Haggas and shouldn’t be entirely ignore as it will be interesting to see how the market reacts but he’ll need to be plenty forward to upset the front pair. Churchill colt Sir Winston looks best of the rest but needs more time.
