Race 7 Belmont 9.05 Acefire (1/1)

Good looking chestnut who built on previous promise to win impressively over shorter here last week; extra yardage only going to help and with scope to improve further he should take a lot of beating here; big chance.

The Aussie NAP landed again overnight so we head into Wednesday chasing a FIVE-TIMER now. I really like the chances of ACEFIRE at Belmont. This chestnut is a classy sort who did it easily last time when well backed. He is improving all the time and with the step up in trip going to suit he is a confident bet to come out on top again. Hilton impressed winning on debut and could be a nice prospect in the making but he lacks experience and is coming up against another promising type in the selection. I expect them to finish the 1-2 here. Magnificent Andy is a decent yardstick in the making too and looks comfortably best of the rest as he was inconvenienced at the start last time and is better than that.

Race 6 Gosford 6.30 Almighty Rising (6/5)

Progressive sort who showed a good attitude to win by a nose at Canterbury back in the summer and capped off his campaign with a good second at the same venue; put away since and will improve so hard to oppose.

Some decent horses lining up here but perhaps none more so than ALMIGHTY RISING who looked promising last campaign despite not really knowing what was required. He is likely to be a lot more streetwise now and I think he can make a winning return. Probably at the main expense of Schiller Bay who has won 2 of his last 3 and has been impressing. This is tougher but he is entitled to go well for a long way. Key Largo also has 3 wins to his name and shaped well when third at Canterbury when last seen in the summer. Like the selection can still do better so unlikely to be far away. Resilient Star also has more to offer and looks best of the rest if stepping forward again.
