Race 8 Ararat 6.00 Mortal Witness (1/1)

Promising filly who ran a cracker back from a five month absence to go down just a nose having raced keenly; should strip fitter from that and has potential to improve again so obvious chance in this field.

This looks a great chance for MORTAL WITNESS to get herself back in the winners enclosure. She couldn’t have done much more without winning on return and if she can settle better here it’s going to take a good one to peg her back. She is improving and with more to come can take care of this bunch with relative ease. Pill Box is exposed compared to the fav but does have 5 wins to his name so has to be respected. Fi Style is 2 from 24 but has 9 placed efforts in there so she is probably the bet to hit the frame. Maddilyn Rose is at least unexposed but will need to improve a fair bit to land a blow in this race and hard to see her upsetting the favourite who will go forward and look to dictate early.

Race 5 Tamworth 4.40 Invincible Fire (11/8)

Likeable mare who just got caught too wide last time and only went down narrowly; definitely capable of better and if she does improve she will be a danger to all in here as it lacks strength in depth; hard to oppose.

I’m struggling to look past INVINCIBLE FIRE here. Her form stacks up and she won’t need to find much more to get herself in the winners enclosure. This looks the easiest task she has faced and it will be disappointing if she doesn’t reward loyal followers. Kenderesi has shown ability in just 2 starts to date and given she is unexposed has to be feared most. Rockbarton Ruby finished sixth in a trial and looks a filly to me that is going to benefit from time and experience so not today for me. Friend Of God showed something to work on when sixth at Quirindi and this looks tougher so while she has a future like the latter she might be seen in better light with more time and experience on her back.
