NAP – Best selection of the evening
Newcastle 2.20 Pay The Piper (5/6)
Likeable type who did well over hurdles and has already made a better chaser; form with all the right horses and has potential to do better again so gets a confident vote to come out on top here and return to winning ways.
This looks a straight shootout between PAY THE PIPER and Cornerstone Lad and it’s the former I’m really keen to side with. He is a classy sort who has already achieved a very decent level of form. He was second to Minella Trump on chase debut at Perth before being left out on his own to win at Wetherby. He then bumped into Fiddlerontheroof at Carlisle before losing little in defeat behind Bravemansgame and Itchy Feet at Haydock. This is easier and with potential to do better again he gets a confident vote to come out on top. Cornerstone Lad is a decent yardstick but he lacks the potential the fav brings to the table and may always be playing second fiddle. The Mouse Doctor best of the rest.

Chelmsford 5.30 Mobashr (7/4)
Progressive sort who needed the experience on debut but has quickly improved since beating a good horse on just his second start at Windsor and then improving again to win readily on return, form working out; more to come yet.
This is quite a good race with both You’re Hired and Headingley entitled to plenty of respect on recent form but I really like the chances of MOBASHR for Marco Botti. He has won 2 of his first 3 starts and is likely to improve again now sent handicapping. He is the unexposed quantity in the field and I expect Andrea Atzeni to make it count. Goddess Of Fire and United Front could end up taking each other on in the early stages and that would set it up nicely for the selection who likes to get a toe into it before hopefully finishing best of all. If pushed I’d say You’re Hired is the main danger as he is chasing a hat-trick and has impressed the last twice but is off a career-high mark now.
