NAP – Best selection of the evening
Wolverhampton 6.00 Mutaraafeq (13/8)
Made all the running to win convincingly over a mile at Newcastle last month, never looking in doubt; lightly raced so more to come and this looks a good opportunity pitched back into a handicap; sure to go well.
I know MUTARAAFEQ was expected to win at Newcastle but he did it in good style and he has scope for further improvement off a mark of 74. He remains open to further progress after just 8 starts and this looks a good chance for him to follow up and potentially put together a string of wins going forward. There isn’t a massive amount of pace on and he can be keen so it wouldn’t surprise me if they made good use of him again. The danger looks to be Hooflepuff given how well he runs at this track but he has struggled off this mark in the past and if the selection improves it is going to be a tough ask for him. Sagauteur was poor at Doncaster and is passed over so My Target is best of the rest.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT PLUMPTON ON MONDAY!
Plumpton 1.30 Sandy Brook (13/8)
Impressed winning a bumper at Hereford at the start of the year and caught the eye denied half a length at Fontwell tackling hurdles for the first time; only third at Uttoxeter but better than that and this a good opportunity.
After just the 4 starts under Rules SANDY BROOK is very much unexposed and while he wasn’t disgraced when third at Uttoxeter I do think he is better than that so if resuming his progress here he will take a lot of beating for his local trainer. That second to Scarpia at Fontwell reads well and with scope to improve he should take plenty of stopping under Tom Cannon. Whistleinthedark was back to form over 2 miles at Worcester and if he can improve back up in trip he will be the danger to the favourite. The Trampolinist is also likely to emerge as a threat in receipt of weight as she shaped better at Lingfield following a wind op and could also have more to come with that under her belt.
