NAP – Best selection of the evening
Kempton 1.55 Bravemansgame (1/1)
Exciting chaser who is fast and accurate over his fences; won in a canter at Newton Abbot before following up impressively at Haydock last time, never out his comfort zone; this track will suit and should have too much speed.
What we’ve seen so far from BRAVEMANSGAME over fences has been mightily impressive and the closer we get to Boxing Day the more confident I am that he can put Ahoy Senor in his place. I respect the latter greatly but he is more of a staying type and given how well the selection manoeuvres himself over a fence I can see him taking the latter out of his comfort zone from an early stage. He has looked so slick over his fences and it all comes so easily to him. He can make it a perfect 3-3 here and he has the potential to go right to the top on what could be a huge day for Paul Nicholls and the team. Tea Clipper and Kiltealy Briggs are talented themselves but have too much to find for an upset.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT MARKET RASEN ON BOXING DAY!
Market Rasen 1.40 Seven No Trumps (2/1)
Strong galloping type who only ran three times over hurdles but left that form miles behind to win impressively on chase debut at Lingfield last month; size and scope to really kick on over fences; can follow up.
I know SEVEN NO TRUMPS won at 14/1 at Lingfield but there certainly didn’t look any fluke about it and I was really taken with that performance. It looks like I wasn’t the only one with the handicapper raising him 9lb but I’m fairly confident he will remain ahead of the assessor for a fair while yet. He really attacked his fences and cut through the field going best before running on well. Both the second and third have been beaten since but don’t take that as a form knock as they both ran well in good races and I have them in my tracker for next time. He is open to improvement given that was just his fourth start under Rules and can make it 2-2 over fences. Omar Maretti is the danger but lacks experience.
