NAP – Best selection of the evening

Leopardstown 2.55 Galopin Des Champs (5/4)

Progressive sort who left previous form well behind to win the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham; backed that up with an impressive win in Grade 1 company at Punchestown; hard to beat if taking to fences now.

Willie Mullins is operating at a near 40% strike rate in the past fortnight and GALOPIN DES CHAMPS can bring up the hat-trick on chase debut here. He certainly has the size and scope to make a chaser and he looked very impressive winning in Grade 1 company over hurdles at Punchestown when last seen. The step back to 2m5f on reappearance looks a good move and I think he can prove too strong for the likes of Fury Road and Blue Sari. The former is very consistent and ran well again when third to Beacon Edge in the Drinmore. He has first-time cheekpieces and should keep the selection honest but I’ll be surprised if he can hold him off in the closing stages. Blue Sari needs to improve again.

NAP

Leopardstown 2.55 Galopin Des Champs (5/4)

Catterick 3.02 Ramble West (6/4)

Promising mare who looked a potentially smart horse winning head in chest on bumper debut at Musselburgh last month; needed the experience when a close second on hurdles debut at Ayr; much better expected now.

This looks a good chance for the improving RAMBLE WEST to open her account over hurdles. She was only beaten narrowly on debut over timber at Ayr and while the winner has been beaten since she did run creditably and the selection should be a lot more streetwise now. Bar Martha Willow I don’t really see much capable of challenging here so it looks a great opportunity. The latter was thrashed at Cheltenham but she should bounce back now tackling obstacles so is expected to give the fav most to think about. Auditoria obviously sets the standard but I’ll be surprised if one of the two mentioned don’t improve past her. Hard to see anything at bigger prices landing a blow in here.
