Race 8 Kilcoy 7.10 Mix (1/1)

Progressive sort who comes here chasing a hat-trick after winning impressively on return at Gold Coast and then showing a good attitude up to this trip last time, prevailing narrowly; more to come and can beat these.

The Aussie NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight as our best bet just about got the verdict. We head to Kilcoy on Thursday morning where MIX can bring up the hat-trick. He has taken his form up a notch recently winning both starts since returning. He will be fitter again and his form stacks up so I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t prove a cut above these. He should have more to come being just a 4yo and is one to keep on side especially in a race like this. Best To Hurry is a decent yardstick and he has already won 3 times so has to be feared. He ran well when second at Toowoomba last time and looks the danger if building on that. Dublin De Quo is unexposed but will need to improve again.

Race 4 Pakenham 8.15 Hardly Sweet (11/10)

Likeable filly who is getting better with experience and took another step forward when denied just over a length at Mornington last month; that is very solid form and with scope to progress again she should be winning this.

Quite a big field for this but HARDLY SWEET is a standout to me. She ran a cracker on debut going down just a length at a fairly big price and improved again to go close when runner-up at Mornington last month. With the promise of better to come she can go one better despite the wide gate. She has good early speed so I expect Damian Lane to have her well placed to strike. De La Fayette is second in the betting but she is 0/8 now so that says a lot about the quality or lack of quality about the opposition. Tagomago is at least unexposed after just 4 starts but will need to better that Cranbourne run to have a say in the outcome here. Saintly Rose is interesting on her third at Bendigo on penultimate start.
