Thursday’s Best Bets
LET’S GET BACK ON TRACK! Racing on Thursday from Ripon, Newmarket, Cheltenham, Clonmel, Bath and Exeter. Daily Double pays 7/2!
Scroll down to find our most confident selections (NAP & NB) PLUS race-by-race picks for every race across all SIX meetings again.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Newmarket 2.25 Audience (11/10)
Promising colt who created a fairly big impression bolting up on debut over C&D last year, showing a smart turn of foot; likely to have improved plenty since and this looks a good starting point; can remain unbeaten.
The bookies took a bit of a chance opening AUDIENCE at 13/8. I didn’t manage to get that price but given how easily he won on debut I think Gosden has found a nice race for him to make it a perfect 2-2 here. He left rivals standing on that occasion and looks to have a bright future. Anthem National tackles turf for the first time and would be a danger if improving again. Eldrickjones is starting to look exposed now and while this return to 7f will suit he is unlikely to improve again so I’ll be disappointed if he manages to win this. Siamsa has enough to find. Tuscan is by Churchill but found a mile in testing ground too tough at Pontefract. If this better surface suits he might get back to form.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS OVER JUMPS AT CHELTENHAM!
Cheltenham 4.25 The Glancing Queen (6/5)
Likeable mare who took really well to fences winning at Bangor and then convincingly at Warwick before bumping into L’homme Presse here and struggling in the Plate latest; this easier and can get back on track.
With just 3 rivals to beat this afternoon I’ll be surprised if THE GLANCING QUEEN doesn’t come out on top. I know she was disappointing in the Plate last month but if she can put that behind her her form before that over fences looked progressive and she still has potential in this sphere. She has plenty of scope and should get into a nice rhythm in this small field so definitely the one to beat as the market is suggesting. Alice Avril is back in handicap company now and could run well. She is the most likely danger under Rachael Blackmore. Darling Du Large saw her winning run ended at Newbury. She has been freshened up but might still find a couple too good in here.
