The NAP was heavily backed at Southwell yesterday and got the job done to remain unbeaten. We head to the AW again this afternoon as we look to land FOUR in a row. More ITV Racing with the focus on Kempton and Fairyhouse for the Irish Grand National.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Kempton 4.05 My Astra (15/8)
Lope De Vega filly who won her first two starts impressively before only going down narrowly in Listed company over in France on final start; open to further improvement and can make a winning return.
It’s been a good start to the season for Haggas and he has another nice filly reappearing here in the shape of MY ASTRA. She won her first two starts in the style of a really nice prospect and she was far from disgraced when second in Listed company in France on final start in testing ground. She is likely to have developed and matured since and this looks a good starting point for her before being targeted at bigger prizes down the line. Roman Mist has fitness on side having ran a good second over C&D on return. She should run well but I think she lacks the potential of the favourite. Potapova was highly tried when last seen and could emerge as the danger in these calmer waters.
Plumpton 4.02 Golden Boy Grey (11/4)
Likeable sort who has won 2 of his last 3 now; stayed on strongly to beat a good horse at Ascot last month and did that with a bit to spare in the end; up 5lb but likely more to offer and can win again.
With 3 wins from 6 starts over fences GOLDEN BOY GREY looks one to keep on side again at Plumpton this afternoon. He stayed on really well to beat Thyme White at Ascot and that looks very solid form. He impressed with how much he found off the bridle and with a cleaner run through here he should be up to defying a further 5lb rise in the weights. Annual Invictus is a horse I like and he will be the danger. My issue with him is he has always got a bad error in him and if he does hit a couple of fences here that will easily swing momentum to the selection. Rose Sea Has is on a hat-trick but he is up another 7lb and this is potentially tougher. Ballinsker is also noted on recent form but is hiked up 9lb.
